@KaCi @actuallyautistic I sent a message to someone who referred to autism symptoms, letting them know that it’s actually burnout symptoms.
Autism is not a bad thing.
@KaCi @actuallyautistic Burnout symptoms are what a lot of people think are "symptoms of autism." That "autism" gets worse or better. But it's not.
They're two entirely different things. My burnout gets worse or better.
My autism is like the sun shining on the earth. Unseen at times, but always there.
@KaCi @actuallyautistic Now that I think of it, I was able to discard the "autism is a disability" mindset in the span of months.
Which was the first thing that really helped.
Like Oprah gave me a sports car and I had to pay tax BUT I have a sports car now and I want to race it.
Then, it became a matter of research and practice. I'm so good at that I used to get in trouble for it.🤣
Realizing and understanding that is helping me a lot. It also helps me stand firm when other people try to tell me that I have not felt what I have felt. And that I have a right to say that this world has been a difficult one for me. I know that makes them uncomfortable but honestly that's nowhere near the discomfort and shame that I've been made to feel nearly all my life.
@KaCi @actuallyautistic And they wonder why we like comic books and anime.
Like they don't? Do they consider us that inhuman?
I think we should start with the realisation that the dignostic criteria for #autistic people are made by #Allistics.
Allistic researchers judge autistic behaviour by their own needs.
Would you say it's smart to ask a bird to judge gill breathing by their own pulmonary respiration needs? Would be plain stupid.
So how come that we #actuallyautistic are judged by allistic needs?
Random question, but why do people use a.gup.pe when there are Hashtags? I noticed you use them so I wanted to ask.
@KaCi I'd be fascinated -- though probably also very depressed -- to know who my daughter and I would be if we hadn't experienced so much trauma.

In my view, if you forget to eat or hyperfocus or forget things in ways that are harmful (to you or to others) then yes, that is something the world did. The world refrained from providing the supports you need to be a caring and cared for part of the community. That’s on the world, not on you. In my opinion.
