#KittenWatches Help (2021)

Help is set in a care home during the first months of the pandemic, in MY city! It capably & heartbreakingly highlights the true damage of ableist #covid policy & omg, it hit my trauma as a care reciever/high risk person painfully, but cathartically!

My review took a very long time to write & was a work of both love & trauma.

A ★★★★★ review of Help (2021)

Help was the most harrowing, brutal, yet validating, movie watching experience of my life! It's set in Liverpool (my city!) during the first few months of the pandemic, in a care home (I am a home care receiver)! It's as close to home regarding my deep trauma, as I will likely ever find in a movie. Two incredible friends (DisMoviePod & Adam) watched with me, or I would never have been able to make myself do it. But I am so glad I did! This movie needed to be made. I'm shocked it WAS made. And it needs to be widely

Heck, this piece of writing is as much a delving of that so very personal trauma, as well as our community's pain & betrayal, as it is a film review.

This incredible #DisabilityRepresentation movie was agony for me to watch - yet everyone abled, especially, *should*! This film is IMPORTANT and carries vital perspective!

I hope I've done this harrowing movie justice in my review (linked in post above)! 🧡

I'm so grateful to Channel 4 and the cast & crew, for making Help. That someone told *our* story... It shouldn't blow my mind, but sadly, it does. That they actually largely got it right was a genuine surprise! I wasn't sure what to expect and was really trepidatious!

Help needs to go beyond a TV movie that few ever see! I hope it will be spread far & wide by word of mouth! 🧡

Pls note - HUGE content warnings on this movie for covid trauma!

In my review, if you scroll to the bottom, I've done my best to summarise what you can expect to find, in my content warnings section.

It's a HARD watch if you share this experience as a client/patient/carer! Be gentle to you, my disabled fam! 🧡
