A little something different from my #NerdStitch archives. Prince of Persia from the Apple II, I recreated the main character running animation in 8 frames of cross stitch and then attached them to a hand crank flip book kit to make it go.
Some followup, I should say I was inspired to make this by a video of Adam Savage doing a flipbook one day build with the same kit, and that pointed me to this site to buy the basics. https://www.flipbookit.com

@Gmatom Wow I love that! Excellent work! :D
@Gmatom That is clever and charming and really well made!
@Gmatom OMFG, THAT IS INSANE. *INSANE*
@Gmatom For true authenticity, you should have had an Apple ][ control a motor to do the flipping.
@Gmatom That's pretty cool!
@Gmatom I cannot get over how adorable this is. And thank you so much for sharing the flip book kit. Had no idea it was a thing. So cool!
@Gmatom Absolutely love this.
@Gmatom This is the greatest thing I have ever seen. Thank you! I loved Prince of Persia.
@Gmatom Can it be cranked in reverse?
@evilmicrowizard hmmm I never tried. Let’s see- yes, you can, but the pages kind of go all at once so it doesn’t animate very well.
@Gmatom
That is very cool and well done!
@Gmatom I can hear the sounds just watching this. Great work. Thank you for sharing!
@Gmatom Cool! Recognized it before even reading the toot.
@Gmatom I did an animation and grad school that is kind of similar to this that ended up in the electronic theater and the year 2000. It's called today's science tomorrow's art and I wrote all the software to generate the images.
@Gmatom it looks like this. Unfortunately I can't find a video online right now
@Gmatom
What a beautiful crafty and nerdy idea. Love it!
