dragonfrog@brawaru @dmoser they wouldn't ride the same bus any more than everyone would drive their cars on the same half block length of roadway. Some of the passengers on the bus are from cars disappearing from the road a block back, some of the drivers disappearing from this block of road are taking the bus that's a block up ahead.

Soozcat@dmoser To make this work, one would have to create a far better transit system. Right now, far more than transit fees, people pay for the time and convenience lost by using the transit system. Mind you, this is coming from someone who loves public transit WHEN IT'S DONE RIGHT.

An animation of a 13-lane wide road. It shows how after converting one lane to a bus lane and another to a bike lane, people switch from cars to buses and bikes, greatly reducing traffic.
At the end only one lane has cars and even it has little traffic.
The empty lanes are replaced with a text: leaving more urban space for plazas, housing, parks and much more…
