We've been on Mastodon for *9* months now!

Time for a re-#introduction to the new folks here:
We are a trustworthy, nonprofit #News source, sharing the knowledge of academic experts on many topics.

Our team of editors identifies researchers studying topics that are timely, important or just plain interesting, and helps them write understandably for the public.

We give away all this #journalism for free.

If you know new people here who'd be interested, please boost.

How we're different | The Conversation

The Conversation is the world's leading publisher of research-based news and analysis. It is a unique collaboration between academics and journalists, provided to everyone for free.

We’re the US edition of The Conversation, and some of you might be interested in our sister sites:

@TheConversationUS

Ah, didn't know that @TheConversationUK was on here, great!

@lmas
The Europe site does not have a Mastodon, yet, but most of their content comes from @TheConversationUK and @theconversationes

@TheConversationUS @TheConversationUK @theconversationes

Heh UK not being in EU was an easy target, but I appreciate an honest answer, thanks. I look forward to see them join the fediverse too!

@TheConversationUS It's great to have you here! ❤️

@TheConversationUS Love to what you're doing ! I think Google Tag Manger and Analytics should be removed from The Conversation website. I don't want them to know what I'm reading, Thanks !

#privacy #freedom #degoogle

@mitexleo Thank you for the feedback. I’m sure you know how to keep Google from tracking you.

@TheConversationUS Umm ... Google is already being blocked by my firewall. But I'm worried about general people. Matomo and Plausible both are GDPR complaint analytics tool, use them instead of Google Analytics.

I trust "The Conversation" not Google.

Agree with Mitexlo.

Also -- thanks for mentioning Matomo and Plausible. Now I know what to suggest to all the medical information websites still using these Google tools.

@TheConversationUS Ugh, another clueless foreign relations "expert". And, Iraq is a terrible comparison to Ukraine. What an awful piece. https://theconversation.com/what-the-iraq-war-can-teach-the-us-about-avoiding-a-quagmire-in-ukraine-3-key-lessons-203465
What the Iraq War can teach the US about avoiding a quagmire in Ukraine -- 3 key lessons

It’s been more than 20 years since the US invaded Iraq, but the invasion still provides a cautionary tale about getting involved in an expensive war abroad.

The Conversation
@TheBigDemoDip @TheConversationUS I agree. This article is not rigorous. The lens is thoroughly a U.S.A. perspective. A more relevant comparison would relate the U.S. invasion of Iraq as more similar to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
@TheConversationUS Do you have an rss feed just for climate news? If so @UncensoredNews will import it and link to your articles.
@PythonLinks @UncensoredNews Thank you! This is all our environment news from the US edition: https://theconversation.com/us/environment/articles.atom and this is all content, globally, tagged Climate Change: https://theconversation.com/us/topics/climate-change-27/articles.atom

@TheConversationUS

Thank you for being here!🙏💞

@TheConversationUS i enjoy many of the articles posted and the perspective they bring.
@foreskinisfun Thank you. I’ll be sure to tell @BostonAbrams that we’ve got another Joel as a fan
@TheConversationUS Do you know if there is a Canadian site link on Mastodon?
@gdjp No, they have not joined, yet (I will pass along your interest)
@TheConversationUS y’all. I’m tired. Why does every article about libraries and librarians have a headline like this? Libraries aren’t just places for books. Librarians aren’t just book nerds. You know, we have terminal degrees and everything. Why stereotype us like this to make your point?
@TheConversationUS
Please consider hosting your own #Mastodon instance. #NewsieSocial has been problematic to the point that users on #MastodonSocial have already had your accounts unfollowed at least twice in the past few months. I cannot even simply refollow your accounts right now, some sort of limitation your current instance is imposing on users on my instance. By the way, please accept my follow request.
