N2DYI@kd8bxp I thought, at first, that my UV-K5 was doing weird stuff with DCS, but it turned out I had dual watch on, and there was something local leaking into whatever frequency it was on. My limited testing using the UV-K5 with DCS to crossband into my TM-V71A has been OK so far.
@N2DYI I only seem to have the problem at Hamvention - I did turn off Dual Watch, and something else with no effect. Nothing I did would work, except to turn off DCS. I get home and try it with one of my other radios, and it worked without any problem. The only thing I can figure is the front end was overloaded...but I don't know why turning off DCS would have worked & let me hear everything even if I couldn't talk to them. It's just weird to me.
