Took a long lunch break from work to activate the SOTA summit of Ruardean Hill today. It’s an easy drive-up and the weather was pleasant.
First time out for the QMX @n6ara paddle combo. Sending improved a bit once I realised I needed to tweak the spacing - sorry chasers!
Still early days for me with the QMX but I’m really liking it. It’s a fab radio. Even better once you factor in the VFM.

A new kiddo in family: a 2nd hand UV-K5(8) to keep company to my UV-K6.

So, I can check the bands out, make comms and check custom firmwares out to found the best grip for me.

Also I just received the famous Nagoya antenna, right testing it.

First #SOTA for a while. I was rusty. It was dreamy! My daughter came along and the sun shone! Fan Brycheiniog GW/SW-003.
Dozen or so contacts on 20M and 40M #MorseCode .
Tried my #Quansheng #UVK5 for the first time, worked great. Think it will be good for my lower cost activating kit. Especially when I’ve changed the firmware to get #Morsecode on 2M.

F4GXS a fait une vidéo sur les réceptions des Perséides via le radar de Grave. Le radar de Grave envoie un signal à 143.050MHz en l'air, et on entend les réflexions des météores avec les effets Doppler. C'est une compilation des ses réceptions. Ces "Ping" sont un peu plus rares IRL, mais c'est exactement ce qu'on peut entendre.
Un talkie-walkie #UVK5 avec le bon firmware peut faire de la réception USB.

Notice to #UVK5 owners.

Before flashing #AubsUK on your UV-K5, take in mind you no longer edit the bands memories channel w/ CHIRP.

Scanning lists it's a good feature, running as expected.

But I'll prefer wait 'til the mod will be more mature (00.07 version) and being fixed this glitch.

Did a VHF only activation of Mt Umunhum, W6/CC-052, this morning on my run. Got QSOs on 2m FM, CW, and SSB, and three summit to summit contacts.

Inside the Quansheng UV-K5 stock antenna.
Was given an extra, so I pulled it open to see how this particular one was made.
Interesting to see a PCB instead of just a cap.
And it as space for two SMD caps.
