'I live in #Alberta in a very #UCP town. I ordered a NDP sign and I was shocked to see the volunteer who delivered it today. It was someone who I know was pro UCP. What was the trigger that made them shift to NDP??'

@gemelliz @timewiththea voters in the next federal election need to be reminded that Poilievre would like to gut the CPP altogether.

@rich1trotter @timewiththea

Agree. #Poilievre will start by raising the CPP eligibility to 67 years as did his 'mentor' Harper. And then poof, gone.

Your an optimist . Like Alberta the goal is to take it over, give the money to oil corps as ,investments , and bankrupt CPP to make a dependent slave cl;ass working until death .

#Cdnpoli All of a sudden the down sized elderly have some value . Good luck with that , retirement grows on ya , no hassle, no clocks, no arsehole in charge . no forced work in unsafe conditions., highly recommend it .

Why rethinking retirement might help solve Canada's demographic crunch | CBC Radio

Canada is being hit by a demographic crisis, sometimes called β€œthe grey wave.” While the economy is adding jobs, economists say the crisis is more than a numbers game and ageism might be costing firms invaluable institutional experience and productivity.

@PBruce @rich1trotter "Changing the discourse around older workers can benefit employee and employer alike"

The last few elections have highlighted the desperate need for polling station workers - a perfect job for retired individuals - however, in Ontario you now must commit to a 12 hour day - a deal-breaker for many.

An easy situation to "re-think" - why not simply divide the job into two 6/hour shifts to "benefit the employee and the employer"

@gemelliz @rich1trotter

I agree ,there are/were lots of options , but really no desire or understanding . You can't pay me enough to do the work i did, too much work , so i have done some for free where motivated to help someone, and you can stick management jobs, had enough of that garbage. Have my own small business as a money hobby, I call the shots. Will not work for someone else - contract work if any, but no desire & No need

@gemelliz @PBruce @rich1trotter also consider: older folks are more susceptible to big problems if they contract #covid19. I'd offer to help, if not for that. I simply cannot risk (more) long-covid because someone with "just a cold" sneezes on me :-(
@gemelliz @PBruce I would not do that because Covid poses a bigger risk than we have been led to believe. I taught for the first years of the pandemic and there is no way I am going back.
