🚨 BIG NEWS! 🚨

@ruud, the admin of https://mastodon.world, just started a Calckey server! You can visit it here:

https://calckey.world

This server is a generic Calckey server for anyone to use. It will be featured on
#Calckey's server list (https://calckey.org/join) soon!

I am ecstatic to see wide adoption of Calckey by so many Mastodon admins, and it's wonderful to build the
Fediverse with all of you!

Let's also give a very hearty
#Calckey greeting to Ruud at his new home!

Howdy
@ruud 🙋‍♂️

We would be delighted to talk to you!
@atomicpoet I’m planning to start, not sure exactly when but I’ll probably be replacing my masto instance when I do.
@atomicpoet I do run my personal instance.

@atomicpoet I’m thinking of switching my Mastodon server to CalcKey as I like the features better, but I would like to see if it’s possible to keep my custom domain, keep my followers and keep my posts 🤔

It’s https://tardis.team/@shauny

@atomicpoet @ruud @ruud Has anyone experimented with an SSO system to integrate a Mastodon and a calckey at an auth layer? Would that even be possible? I'm working on scaling out my hosting and this could be an interesting offer for my users...
@mikey @ruud @ruud The great news is that @mike@macgirvin is building a Fediverse Identity Manager that might offer something similar to SSO.

@atomicpoet Sorry to bother, but what exactly *is* Calckey? So far as I can tell it is "a social media" (site? application? protocol?), is a fork of Misskey (?), and has an extremely scrolly front page. 😆

I can't tell if it's a Mastodon alternative frontend, an ActivityPub microblogging application similar to Mastodon, or something else fediverse-related.

@varx I’ve written an introductory thread on Calckey here:

https://mastodon.social/@atomicpoet/110330138893896925

Of course, the best way to understand
#Calckey is to try it for yourself.
@atomicpoet Ah, thanks. So it's part of fedi and is microblogging-centric but with a bunch of other tools and interaction modes.

@atomicpoet I recently started playing with Calckey and I’m curious, is there a way for someone currently self hosting on Mastodon to move to self hosted Calckey? Has something like this been contemplated yet?

Calckey strikes as much more “fun” than Mastodon

@joseph Calckey is based on a codebase that’s unique from Mastodon.

However Calckey supports migration from Mastodon, and also allows your to port your Mastodon posts to Calckey.
@atomicpoet
As akkoma user I am happy about every new fedizen I can shower in emoji reactions, so yay for calckey 😄
@ruud @ruud
@atomicpoet @ruud @ruud would be very good t have a move database option for mastodon as we would like to move out activism server over.
