<< True, but it is not just economists.

Most of Ireland is deeply committed to ignoring or dismissing the ongoing ecological crisis. Indeed, by many pollution metrics, per capita, Ireland is near, or is, the worst of EU states.

By being small, we have escaped the international damnation that our polluting ways deserve - our reckoning is long overdue.

President condemns ‘obsession’ with economic growth

In reception for think tank Tasc, Michael D Higgins condemned ‘neo-liberalism’ and urged country to ‘rebalance economy, ecology and ethics’

The Irish Times

@kasilas A posse (what's the collective noun for economists?) of economics professors sound like tantrum-prone toddlers in the #SundayBusinessPost today - including quotes from two who vocally spew exactly the growth crap the President was denouncing.

I get their "not reflective of modern economics" claim, but the President perfectly captured the ranty, growth-obsessed, neoliberal, egotistical reality of #Ireland's loudest economists on social media.
