A TX man w/AR-15 killed 5 people "execution style." Two female victims were killed lying on top of 2 surviving kids & 3 surviving kids were covered in blood. All b/c they asked him to stop shooting while their baby slept.

This GOP "well regulated militia," has this month alone killed people for:
•Sitting in the wrong car
•Knocking on wrong door
•Turning into wrong driveway
•Attending the wrong birthday party
•Basketball rolls into the wrong lawn
•Asking the wrong neighbor to let your baby sleep

@QasimRashid
America's well regulated militia certainly knows how to defend against threats like basketballs and babies.
@QasimRashid Once the 'race' of the killer was known, Biden and immigrants are being 'blamed.' No need to wonder how easily hitler recruited Germans/Austrians. We're seeing it play out in 2023. '2A' is now an acronym for 'To Assassinate.'
@ReneeVoiceBrand @QasimRashid 🙄 Right… bc unhinged white men born in America are never mass shooters.

@ReneeVoiceBrand @QasimRashid

Conservatives were about to reach the "mental health" button, but then quickly moved to "dirty brown people" once they heard the killer's race.

@ReneeVoiceBrand @QasimRashid they most likely have no idea when the man immigrated to the United States.

@QasimRashid

Sadly even more of the same GOP "Good Guy's With Guns" Mentality...

@QasimRashid This country was built on violence, terror, and trauma. It is in the DNA of America. That does not mean we should cease fighting for a less violent society. Build community, network, educate, and continue to fight violence and terror with daily kindness. The majority of American’s are non-violent.✌🏼
@HumanityExists @QasimRashid any educated person knows that less guns means less violence. The brain of certain republicans isn’t able to cope with facts… prayers and thoughts are just about as much as they can understand.

@nathanwierink @HumanityExists @QasimRashid

Is that a fact? Then why is the violent crime rate in both Australia and New Zealand higher than the United States? When you account for VIOLENCE as opposed to only homicide the numbers might surprise you.

No, the claim was "any educated person knows that less guns means less VIOLENCE" (emphasis mine)

Oh, so this makes it ok then!
Ok boys, I guess hunting season is on!!

@C0ppert0p @infiniteone @nathanwierink @HumanityExists @QasimRashid

Feel free to join the conversation rather than just doing snark. I am HAPPY to be proven wrong but all evidence points to gun control being a grift in the US. There are NO viable legislative answers and both sides continue to fundraise off outrage on both sides while knowing it.

If you have a VIABLE real world method to change the US constitution (that wouldn't put Jim Jordan and MTG in charge of the committee) I would love to see it.

@mstrmustache @infiniteone @nathanwierink @HumanityExists @QasimRashid
Nope, with so many right wing lunatics out there and so much money being made by companies in the business of manufacturing and selling arms and ammunition, I can’t the problem being addressed until death tolls are much, much higher.

@C0ppert0p @infiniteone @nathanwierink @HumanityExists @QasimRashid

I don't agree on the cause but that is really irrelevant to what we should be doing which is to reduce inequality, improve material conditions for the workers, and stop wasting political capital on tilting at windmills.

@mstrmustache @infiniteone @nathanwierink @HumanityExists @QasimRashid
The base cause *is* inequality.
The reason we are unable to do what many other countries have been able to do, is political.
There are too many groups with vested interested in keeping Americans afraid. Fear drives profit.
And greed, amplifies the drive, to profit from fear.

@C0ppert0p @infiniteone @nathanwierink @HumanityExists @QasimRashid

You want to hurt the gun companies? Work there and unionize them.

@mstrmustache @HumanityExists @QasimRashid you either can’t read or are to ignorant to see the problem the nra ruled us has. Go and read literary the first sentences of the report.
@mstrmustache @nathanwierink @HumanityExists @QasimRashid when was the last time mothers in NZ covered their childrens bodies to protect them from AR-15 fire? Crime is up everywhere, especially since 2019. But, mass shootings of innocent civilians is a unique American tragedy .
@mstrmustache @nathanwierink @HumanityExists @QasimRashid Did you read down as far as 'The problem with global violent crime statistics'? I didn't think so. I am absolutely certain the USA one is incomplete, because there is no way there were no sexual assaults in the USA.

@ariaflame @nathanwierink @HumanityExists @QasimRashid

I in fact did. If you have a better source of information please feel free to produce it. Based on my research the US does have a higher homicide rate than non gun countries but their violent crime rate (assault etc) is almost always higher. As if people stuck in capitalist hellscapes are consistently violent, just more lethal with guns.
Based on the improbability of any meaningful change to American gun laws it is an individual choice whether to be the Sancho to the deluded (or willfully deceptive) Quixote or to concentrate time effort and money on helping marginalized communities, demilitarizing the police, or maybe even directing social programs which are proven to reduce inequality AND violence.

But you feel free to scream at clouds, I'm sure they will listen and change.

@mstrmustache @ariaflame @HumanityExists @QasimRashid although i think you are very biased towards the given numbers indeed screaming to the clouds isn’t going to help. Maybe bringing the same ‘problems’ that schoolkids face when confronted with an AR to the different NRA meetings will help changing the greed based republican opinion. Then let them say ‘thoughts and prayers’.

@nathanwierink @ariaflame @HumanityExists @QasimRashid

You seem to be under the mistaken delusion that a legislative answer exists. I am sorry but bothe the NRA and the Dems have lied you into a false reality.
The courts, including the Supreme Court since Heller (and now including the even more broad Bruen decision) have consistently held that the Second Amendment affirms the right of individuals to own firearms. In fact there are NO "illegal" man portable firearms in the US. A fully automatic suppressed short barrelled rifle is just behind a paywall.
Therefore the only answer is to "Change the Constitution" you say? Sure, why not. It only requires 2/3 of BOTH houses of Congress AND the states to ratify it. I'm sure that will happen in this world of 1-2 vote margins in Congress.

I would never say that laws restricting firearms that were consistently enforced and equitably written would be a bad thing....it just literally never has in the US and cannot be upheld even if it were. "Gun control" is the grift that just keeps on giving for both sides.

@mstrmustache @ariaflame @HumanityExists @QasimRashid yes you should change the constitution or at least let it do what is was ment for. That’s not the right to bear arms to the extent that now is legalized. But hey if you want you kids to be obliterate and defend yourself by saying ‘it’s the law’ go ahead. But don’t come whining when it is your kid dead in the streets. Then just go and say that you’ve done ‘all you can’.

@nathanwierink @ariaflame @HumanityExists @QasimRashid

Please explain, in detail, how one would change said constitution in the current political environment. I have been studying this for years and have reached the conclusion that no matter how desirable it might be (a debateable point since Jim Jordan would be in charge of the committee ) it literally CANNOT be done but I am far from perfect so I am happy to be proven wrong.

How? In detail taking into account real voters and representatives please.

If not are you equally willing to accept the proposition that you have been fooled into a grift that benefits the Dems and the GOP by allowing them to fundraise while KNOWING that there is nothing going to change?

@HumanityExists @QasimRashid

It's also the case for nearly every other country, but most in the world decided not to make being able to easily murder people a part of their culture.

The problem with America is that the wants of the individual is always held higher than the needs of the community. That's what lets special interest groups trick idiots into believing less guns means less freedom and getting them to repeatedly voting against their own self interests.

@QasimRashid Hi Qasim! Thanks for your posts.

The mass murder epidemic won't stop until it's no longer profitable to make and sell weapons of war to civilians. I made a list of companies involved. Let the gun manufacturers know what you think of them:

@QasimRashid Apart from the guns something is not right

What I mean is, apparently more and more people are on the edge of murderous rage

The situations described are regular everyday occurrences, yet they’re enraged beyond reason

Then they have guns at their fingertips

Don’t know what they’d do if they didnt have the guns but them not having them would be a very welcome start

#MeltTheGuns

@hfentonmudd @QasimRashid It's oligarchy. We've had guns like these for ages, but what we didn't have is the despair, fear, hate and rage, that the vast amounts of inequality we have as of late has created.

It's all been downhill since the 80's and Reaganomics. You can basically draw a straight line between the decline in civility (and rise in anger and hate crimes) and the rise of inequality and oligarchy.

@CIWS30
This is a big part of it, IMO…throw in a pandemic and we have (waves around)…this 💆🏻‍♂️

@QasimRashid

@hfentonmudd @QasimRashid You're definitely right. Pandemic made things much worse, and now we're seeing the effects of climate change too.

It's one of the reasons I try to be more politically active nowadays. Not to late to change things, but it'll take some effort.

@CIWS30 @hfentonmudd @QasimRashid

If think about it, the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine in 1987 lines up nicely as well. The rise of partisan radio and TV and the rise in anger and hate are a perfect parallel.

@QasimRashid
This... I'm lost for words.

And still a ton of Americans worship their guns.

@QasimRashid This is the future that conservatives want.
@QasimRashid This has long ago stopped being by accident and is now clearly by design.
Certainly someone has to make huge profits from the spread of violence.
@QasimRashid maybe the next reason is ‘showing up at a NRA meeting’…. Maybe that will resolve things.

@QasimRashid

By April 29, 2023 there have been 48 mass shootings, 4 or more people killed or injured in a single event, in America. That is 1.67 shootings per day or 3 mass shootings every 2 days.

That "well regulated militia" has been very busy in April.

When will the Majority of Americans STOP letting a minority control gun regulations in America????

So, so sad!

@QasimRashid this is how we solve disputes and respond to innocent mistakes: blast 'em to smithereens then hide behind the 2A and standing your ground and/or claim fear for own life.
