Picked up a $30.00 Anysecu UV-K5 it arrived from China a whole 5 or 6 days ahead of time.....
And it's both better, and worse then I thought it would be.
With some interesting features, like NOAA channels, and airband - And only a few dollars more then a UV-5R - this could be the new beginner radio to give to new hams. #baofeng #UV5R #UVK5 #Anysecu #hamradio #ham #radio
@kd8bxp How’s programmability? Peripherals? Build quality? Any concerns or gripes?
Sounds like a great backup/emergency ht.
@josephholsten The stock antenna is what you'd expect, and needs to be replaced ASAP. Build quality is about what I expected, has more or less the same feel as a UV-5R.
I haven't tried to program it yet with the software, I don't think there will be any problems doing it thou.
The menu system on it is pretty good, and after looking over the manual it was pretty easy to field program without any software - so that is a plus in my book.
I agree, it will be a good backup radio - /(more)
@josephholsten With NOAA, FM and a wide band receive - 50 to 599Mhz
It seems to me to be a good enough radio. At the same time I with the price of $30, I'm not going to try cry if I dropped it, or lost in the woods (or somewhere).
Probably be a good radio to carry on hikes, and biking, for just that reason.
I just got it so haven't had time to really play with it yet. But so far, it appears to be doing what it should.
