I said "Forty years ago in the 80s" and instantly lost a little bit of cartilage in my knee.
@Skepticat I think youโ€™ll find the 80s was onlyโ€ฆ waitโ€ฆ oh dear.
@oldmanmike
Oh dear indeed! It all goes so fast...
@Skepticat
40 years ago, when I was a punk rocker.... AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH *Shakes cane at cloud*
@Okanogen ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I hear you, classic rocker.
I'm 63 and simply refuse to believe it.
@Skepticat
I'm just one year younger. But on the plus side, my kid loves our music, so skipping those between generations worked out ok.
@Okanogen they really don't make music anymore. Everything is generated.
@Skepticat
Oh! I don't agree at all! I love a lot of new music! Weyes Blood, Big Thief, The Mars Volta, Kruanghbin, Foxygen, Angel Olson, Beach House.....
@Okanogen
I'm going to have to check it out! Can't wait. I'm ready for something new. Thanks. I'll get back to you for more... hopefully!
@Okanogen we have many generations in common. Music isn't the same imo. It's all a repetitive beat, no real instrumentals. Remember the orchestra sound of bands like Kansas? Or piano sounds of Bruce Hornsby?

@Skepticat @Okanogen

Have you tried modern Ukrainian music?

There's a couple of good playlists on ITunes. I'm a big classic rock fan myself coming from Austin '70s/'80's and I've found these new Ukrainian tunes have a lot of complexity and creativity - and some of that 'big' sound feel - something I haven't seen for a while. Of course, it's like listening to the opera because I don't understand Ukrainian. But I've really been enjoying it on some of the long rides we take.

@Gleng2 @Okanogen
No, I haven't. I'll have to listen in. Thanks for sharing! ๐Ÿ˜

@Skepticat Cartilage is overrated lol

I've lived without a medial meniscus in one knee for *ahemmumble40years* and no problems at all

Your mileage may vary :-)

@3x10to8mps
Oh Lisa, it seems to matter greatly for me.
If I squat at a patient's bedside, I can barely get up.
My gawd, it's embarrassing.
So I get very creative in retrieving items that end up on the floor.
It's all cartilage related for me because other than that, I'm in good shape.
I think you're very fortunate! ๐Ÿ˜

@Skepticat Sorry dear one! I'm sure you have considered this, but let me put a plug in for PT focused on all the quads individually. VMO gets weak so quickly and so much hangs on that one. Of course balance btw quads and hamstrings matters too. Good PT, home exercises can delay a TKA by a decade- with good function!

True, you'll still be crunchy going down and getting up, but hopefully easier

And people love being asked to help retrieve things- it makes them feel helpful :-)

@3x10to8mps wall sits for my quads on the daily!
Thank you ๐Ÿ˜โค๏ธ๐Ÿค—
@Skepticat Great! Even better if some with a ball squeezed between your knees ;-)
@3x10to8mps @Skepticat One thing I learned about missing so many bone parts is that you really don't need all those bone parts. ๐Ÿ‘
@Skepticat Ouch. This post hurt to read. Or maybe that was just my arthritis acting up.
@Skepticat The 80's are now just as far away as the 60's were in 2000...
@thomas_liekens @Skepticat Someone on social media referred to something made in 2000 as "old". Huh? Whadda they mean, "old"?
@anne_twain @thomas_liekens
Clearly, they have no idea what they're talking about. ๐Ÿ˜
@Skepticat Time for one of those "'Back to the Future' was closer to the 1950s than it is to today's date" references.
@Skepticat
I hear you. It sucks. My 30 year old brain often forgets about my 69 year old body.
(Until I look in a mirror)
I get equally depressed when I see what the musicians of my youth look like today, the few that are still alive, that is.
@jeber
When I was young, I recall my grandma always saying that she had no idea who that was looking back at her from the mirror. I always thought 'poor grandma'.
I've been lucky and haven't seen the big change yet, but I know it's rapidly approaching.
@Skepticat The thing that's killing me is when people refer to "the 1900s."
@theLastTheorist I hear you Steve and people actually gasp when I give 1960 as my birth year. My gawd, they act like I'm from the Mesozoic Era ๐Ÿ˜‚
Then they always say, "I would never have guessed...blah blah blah."

@Skepticat @donmelton

Impossible! The 80s were like 15 years ago at mostโ€ฆ.

@Sonikku @donmelton
If only... (big sigh). And I'll find myself watching a movie from 2000 while thinking 'my gawd, look how young they look,' and then I realize that was almost 1/4 a century ago.
Damn...
@kevinteljeur @lostlifefound
Perfectly stated. ๐Ÿ˜
@Skepticat @lostlifefound Like I remember the 80s and people were driving cars and I used a phone and there was food, it wasnโ€™t that long ago, or else that would make me-
@Skepticat ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
@Skepticat My knee hurt when I read this... the struggle is real
@stufromoz it is, huh?!? ๐Ÿ˜‚
@Skepticat On cooler mornings I wake up feeling very old

@Skepticat

๐Ÿ”˜ I'm in this photo and I don't like it.

@Skepticat

I'm not sure what's worse,
"forty years ago in the eighties..."

or

"twenty years ago when the eighties were twenty years ago..."

@nlarson830

@RL_Dane @nlarson830 either way, it's starting to add up to a long time ago...
@Skepticat I hate when you have to enter your info on a site and you have to spin the date of birth wheel to 1961. Feel like Iโ€™m on the Price is Right
@jmalotte yep! Spin one more year for me. ๐Ÿฅด
@jmalotte
And a big shout out to KCMO with the NFL Draft! ๐Ÿˆ
