I find long-pressing to be quite a lazy UX element. It’d be neat if Apple could invent something that detected pressure or force—it could save a lot of time and prevent toggle misfiring—probably too advanced and futuristic though.
@snazzyq I still lament the loss of 3D Touch, though it sounds like you and I are the only ones.
@caseyliss @snazzyq I still miss it to this day. Almost every day.
@caseyliss @snazzyq me too! There’s dozens of us! Dozens!
@marlies @caseyliss @snazzyq “Excuse me stranger, your flashlight’s on” is never something I had to say to someone with an iPhone 6s – XS
@dgriffinjones @caseyliss @snazzyq RIGHT! Does this never happen to folks at Apple??!
@marlies @caseyliss @snazzyq It’s so bright in California and Apple Park that no one knows they have flashlights at all
@dgriffinjones @caseyliss @snazzyq not in the secret basements under Apple Park!
@caseyliss @snazzyq me too! It was such a jarring change when I finally moved away from my beloved iPhone X
@caseyliss @snazzyq I used to think it was a game changer, but after all these years without it I’d say the gains were too marginal with respect to the increased engineering/manufacturing complexity.
@caseyliss @snazzyq I’m on an iPhone 8 and dread the moment i have to adjust my muscle memory to these new 3D Touch-less phones.
@caseyliss @snazzyq There’s a support group. We meet every third Tuesday.
@caseyliss @snazzyq for some reason the only thing I successfully did with 3D Touch was half-perform a bunch of actions. Ooh, I did a half peek 🫣
@caseyliss @snazzyq The end of 3D Touch was the end of gaming on iPhone for me. Absolutely essential for shooters!
@caseyliss @snazzyq I liked it as well, but I will say that I still would accidentally find myself in icon rearrange then, which I never do with the current long-press methodology. I find myself musing about the change away from rapid shots in the camera more often than I do the absence of 3D Touch.
