One of the reasons I stopped going to Vegas in like 2005... The social atmosphere was just wildly poisonous, even as someone who did get invited to stuff.

@dymaxion @hacks4pancakes DEF CON at least was so much better this past year than the only other time I went, and not because I know people now. In 2011 it was as you describe (also I was notably young by ten years), this year there was such great welcoming energy abd I was notably old by ten years
