The Supreme Court is facing a serious legitimacy crisis, and failing to hold Clarence Thomas accountable for this latest ethics abuse will only make it worse.
@rbreich Roberts resigns in protest, KBJ gets elevated to CJ, and we get another justice. I can dream, right?
@rbreich Sweet galloping Jeebus! All those highly touted ‘checks & balances’ in the US don’t amount to a hill ‘o’ beans if someone doesn’t want to abide by them.
@rbreich
Seems offering Thomas a deal to not prosecute his wife in exchange for his resignation could be considered.
@rbreich Chief Justice Roberts has a chance to make a historical stand for justice, but I doubt he will
@rbreich When Republicans move in, ethics moves out.
@rbreich LOL— maybe @scotus will hire the same investigators that solved the mystery of the Dobbs draft leak. I recommend these folks…
@rbreich In the military, they train you immediately not to accept a gift over $20. Yeah. Impeach this anti-women free-loader.

@rbreich

It took slave owning states 300 years to question their "peculiar institution"

Republican billionaire donors are unlikely to learn this as quickly.

@rbreich
Agreed no man should be above the law...in a democracy everyone should be accountable for their behaviour.
@rbreich I have no faith in any opinion or any decisions the SCOTUS6 make.They ARE illegitimate. Harlan Crow, Barre Seid, (a 90yo man who gave $1.6B to the Federalist Society), Leonard Leo (the co-chair and Rep activist of the Fed Society who took Seid’s money) & the Marble Freedom Trust (a dark money group) are awash in conservative $$$. Those donations were then written off as $400M in tax breaks. The verdicts were bought & paid for. Less freedom, more guns, fascism.
@rbreich Only Congress could do that .. and they can't/won't.
@rbreich The Supreme Court, having been properly purchased, does not care whether you or anyone else thinks them legitimate.
