I'm hoping the taxman gets him!
@heidilifeldman what's really terrible is that both parties have had many chances to do something about creating a code of ethics at the supreme court. clearly this has been a problem ppl have known about for awhile.
& still, crickets on court expansion (or ethics!) from dem leadership, who cant even stop congress from trading stocks.
i wonder sometimes, can anyone see how corrupt our govt has become?
we have one party that wants to make it worse & the other wants to maintain status quo. awful
@heidilifeldman Mens rea can be difficult to prove in bribery cases, but damn if that isn't as close to a silent confession as it gets.
If he didn't believe there was an appearance of impropriety, he wouldn't have stopped reporting the gifts.
Lifetime appointments are the best.
In the face of this evidence, is it not possible to charge #ClarenceThomas for #TaxFraud. If not, why?
He cannot possibly be immune from persecution, as he has life tenure.
@heidilifeldman Let's hope he was equally ill-advised about reporting large gifts on his income taxes.
AMERICA: Why didn't you disclose all these free luxury vacations Grifty G. McGrifterson was taking you on?
THOMAS: I was informed I didn't have to disclose that.
AMERICA: Who the hell told you that?
THOME: I don't have to disclose that.
The embarrassingly simple minded "they told me it was ok to not report millions in gifts" is worse than it looks, because the corrupt Justice DID REPORT gifts, up until the gifts got really big.
