DeSantis is punishing the Hyatt Regency Miami for hosting a Drag Christmas ball back in December. He’s actually taken away its liquor license.

DeSantis is out of control, obsessed with oppressing freedom and gender identity expression and willing to abuse state power to do it.

@georgetakei I cannot imagine being one of the regulators who has to enforce this BS. I'd think they'd want focus on unsanitary restaurant kitchens or liquor stores selling kegs/cases to high schoolers, stuff that protects communities and they can feel proud about.

And then the governor demands that they investigate drag shows. Someone had to write up a 17-page statement and go through the whole formal process. They had to investigate and enumerate specific violations. How does that happen?

Oh yes! For those not in the know, the protagonist ("Principal Boy") is usually a male character played by a female. The matriarchal comic relief "Dame", a female character, is always a man in outrageous drag. There's often also plenty of innuendo and double-entendres - and, to really make US Conservatives blow their tops, the shows are targeted at families with (young) children.

Meanwhile, around a third of Shakespeare's plays feature crossdressing (usually F-M), and of course in his time, women were prohibited from acting, so ALL female roles were portrayed by men.
