My mission is to teach people about #wolves and showcase their beauty, intelligence, and social nature. I'm struggling to find an audience here to spread my message. I'd be grateful if the community here on @Mastodon could help.

@Mastodon I'm grateful to this community for showing me so much support. It's gratifying to know there are so many people out there that care about wolves.

I live with wolves 🐺, crawl under houses to evict wayward bears 🐻, and rescue injured coyotes and other wildlife 🦇. The only thing I'm scared of is my wife 😆. Subscribe to my channel to learn what it's like to share your life with wolves and other animals.

@Mastodon @owstarr mastodon isn’t great at creating social networks or algorithms unfortunately

@owstarr Write up an #introduction post as a lot of folks track that hastag, and it will probably summon @dgar too.

Curious if you’ve read this The Wolves of Algonquin Park: A 12 Year Ecological Study

@owstarr @WTL
I feel summoned.
Thanks, @dgar! @owstarr is trying to increase the visibility of his advocacy for #Wolves, and I figured if you could get me to do an introduction, you'd have some pointers for them.

@WTL

Summon me again @owstarr when you’ve pinned an introduction toot and I’ll give it a boost.

I’ve already boosted the original toot on this thread.

*returns to slumber.

@dgar @WTL , summoned. Now, if I could only get my Rhosgobel rabbits hitched up to my sleigh. https://youtu.be/N_25-FvOPGY
'These are rhosgobel rabbits i'd like to see them try' - where can I get some of those rabbits?!

@WTL @dgar thanks for the tips. I'll implement them. I haven't seen that book but I'll buy it. Thank you!
@owstarr @dgar If you can’t find it from Waterloo, let me know and I can mail it to you.

@owstarr If someone follows you, your posts show up on their instance's federated timeline. Keep an eye on your instance's federated timeline and look for other things interesting to you, and follow those people, etc. Sometimes people will follow back, other times just conversing with them reveals you to others.

I'm guess you're doing these things to some degree, and all I can say is that it also takes time. We don't have an algorithm here analyzing our posts and suggesting them to random strangers, so it's just a different feel. My experience is that if you participate (which I'm not saying you aren't), people do find you.

@owstarr @Mastodon
if you can decipher the invite in this reddit, you can pose your quest to a mastodon instance set up for native americans. That would be a receptive , maybe even a helpful, crowd to share your wolf stories with.

Native Mastodon

You have all probably heard of Mastodon because of recent events at Twitter. Mastodon is part of a bigger social netork called the fediverse...

@owstarr @Mastodon I'm fascinated with Wolves. How can I help spread tour message about these majestic creatures? #Wolves
@owstarr I for one love wolves and would love to hear more. Also big mountain skiing is awesome. You sir, have my attention .

@owstarr
Can I suggest following hashtags related to wolves and following and interacting with people using those tags in their posts? Building community tends to be the best way to increase the chance of your posts being seen in the fediverse (the network made up of servers running Mastodon and other software compatible with the ActivityPub protocol).

@Mastodon

@owstarr @Mastodon Wolves are basically dogs in charge of their own lives. It’s beautiful to see.
