Yes, a hostile takeover of #Twitter by ultra-right opinion was plan A:

Plan B might still come to fruition, however, if Plan A failes due to #Chapter11 and/or further mass exoduses from the #BorgSite: #ScorchedEarth.

I think he wanted criticism of himself to end and if he could control the popular forum for journalists... that was within his reach, financially.
Plus other billionaires have been buying up media companies to filter propaganda. Its clear he's both dumb and his motive is to control information.
@Jake_Vig Anymore, yes. It's really sad to watch that platform plummet into the ground. Elon is a complete douche. Most of my friends from Twitter have come over here. I've heard good reviews. I'm excited to be here.

@Jake_Vig
You're right. Either he is a billionaire who fundamentally doesn't understand the credibility that a professional journalist tries to establish and maintain through out a career, OR he is trying to destroy the distinction between influential opinions and actual facts. Stupid or malicious, and far too much power and money. Either way is terrifying.
The old blue check increase Twitter's credibility, not the other way around.
@Jake_Vig He certainly favors right-wingers, he's a reactionary after all. But there was never a goal nor a point, don't give him credit for logical thought.
Everything happening can be traced to him buying twtr for an inflated sum (which he tried to back out of), and leveraging it w/ so much debt that it'll cost >$1B annually just to keep the lights on. He's SCRAMBLING for revenue sources, and when he fails to meet that debt obligation then in all likelihood the lights go out for good.
