Since then, I have bought a second one for myself (and currently I technically own 6, though that will go down to 4 in the next couple months). In the past two years, I have ridden approximately 3100 miles on these bikes; I have also driven the sale of at least 200 more #ebikes through referrals and recommendations, with many more thousands of miles between them.
Assuming 1000 miles of lifetime replacement per ebike referral I have made directly, my impact here is likely approximately 200 tons of CO2 emission reduction over the bike lifetime.
Sze@crschmidt that seems like a low mileage number? I'm at like 750 on my #CargoBike and I've only had it since October...maybe that's just because I'm out in the burbs and everything is farther
@szeis4cookie Broadly speaking, the distribution is highly bimodal. I have friends who have owned for 2 years and put only 250 miles on (because it doesn't replace many trips) and I put 2000 on mine in the first year.
Since I don't have enough sample to know the distribution, I picked a conservative estimate, especially for the relatively low cost of the Radmissions that I directly referred a lot of folks to, where it's so cheap that it isn't thought of as a lifestyle change.
@crschmidt that's fair enough - I also came into the ebike lifestyle from being a roadie so perhaps that's not as fair a comparison to others.
dr2chase@szeis4cookie @crschmidt Burbs (even just Belmont) might make the difference; I've been a steady 3000 miles/year (except for 2020/Covid) since 2015, 2500/year since late 2006 before that. No E, either.
