Just a reminder to folks that the spate of layoffs across big tech are merely a fad.

When grouped together like this the news is less sensational, the share prices won't dip as low as an isolated event, and they can all hide behind the inflation excuse but ultimately it's all a front.

This is just a way to improve returns to investors with the smallest negative affect publicity wise because "everyone is doing it".

So understand there's still plenty of places hiring in smaller sized companies and you won't be used as a pawn. It sucks we all have to work to survive but you may as well do it somewhere you're respected. I might know one or two places hiring if you're struggling in infosec. DMs are always open.

@jxhn also it'd be a good time for tech folks to consider forming / joining a union.

We're still just workers. The owners have just proven they'll fuck with us to for no real reason.

@jxhn the challenge now is that with so many people laid off, it's displaced a huge number of people with good credentials into those jobs

edit: not that those are lower tier jobs ofc (since i realize this kind of reads like that) i just mean that a newcomer's resume may now be competing with 20 or 30 people who just got fired from a brand name company
