Just in case someone else is also looking, I got A LOT of recommendations for a Fully Jarvis sit/stand desk, they’re running a sale right now, so I ordered one this morning. :)
@caseyliss Does this spell the end of the glass desk top?
@sharding @caseyliss so it should. no desktop surface should break your ears if you drop a coin on it.
@caseyliss I have one, and I love it. I’d rec the keyboard tray, the bottle opener, and the widest version you can afford/fit. Cheers! 🍺
@caseyliss No keyboard tray? Or do you add one yourself?
@caseyliss good choice. Tanner and I both have and love our Jarvis desks
Jarvis Bamboo Standing Desk* 1400 x 800

@caseyliss no complaints with mine
@caseyliss for anyone looking for very large standing desks, Deskhaus is definitely the brand to go for. Jarvis and others (including my Herman Miller) start to wobble quite a bit when standing
@caseyliss love my Jarvis. I’ve had it for 2.5 years and it’s been fantastic
@caseyliss welcome to the best desk of your life. I sold my old one to @tg_cid and ending up buying a frame from them and a top from a hardware store. Keep the frame forever!
@adammason @caseyliss Can confirm. It’s an absolutely fantastic investment.
@caseyliss Jarvis ftw. Only thing I'd recommend is asking customer service to send you the old style buttons instead of the new ones. I really disliked the new one, it’s like a touch screen you have to wake up, versus easy to press buttons that are always there and you can hit without even looking. They were really nice and just sent the old ones.

@christianselig OH MY GOD I didn’t know you could do that!!

I was just about to call their support bc I’m finding the touch surface of mine to be finicky and was going to ask them for a replacement.

The touch panel is the *only* thing I don’t like about the desk. Replacing that would be a game changer:

@caseyliss This is interesting, but I wonder how stable this would be, at standing height, with three 27-inch displays clamped to the back edge on monitor arms. I sometimes get some bobbing of the suspended displays even on a fixed height IKEA desk…
@redler @caseyliss the fix for this is a VESA rail setup, rather than clamps. More than I need, but it does work.
@sayrer @caseyliss You mean rails on the wall? Downside there is you need to reposition all your displays whenever you change desk height. Unless I’m misunderstanding…
@redler @caseyliss they make ones that have two clamps to the desk, or are built in, it’s just in the iykyk area.
@sayrer @caseyliss thanks, I’m going to look into this. I haven’t even bought the desk Casey mentioned yet, but it keeps coming up in recommendations.

@redler @caseyliss the desk is great. a better example of the VESA rails thing is this one: https://www.amazon.com/Stand-Steady-Monitor-Heavy-Clamp/dp/B09F71QNN7

I don’t have an exact recommendation for these things. I've used them at work, but I was not in charge of buying them.

@caseyliss I’ve been thinking about once also but I think I still want a keyboard/trackpad tray but none seem to have that. Did you find any?
@davereed didn’t look

@caseyliss @davereed you can buy them on Etsy custom-made for whatever you want in there.

You can screw anything into the bottom of the desk at any point, so it doesn't matter. Here's a reasonably big Komplete Kontrol music thing in such an arrangement, on a Fully desk. This one is a little ugly because the foam pads on my keyboard are higher than the new ones, so it didn't quite fit at first.

Such a know-it-all comment, but I really do know about these desks. :)

@caseyliss +1 for Fully, we got the cheaper Jarvis desk which is just as fully featured but the top is a cheaper 👍
@caseyliss Oh man... I nearly recommended it as well but didn't want to be a "well actually" reply guy (since you were asking specifically about a different desk). But yeah, +1 for the Jarvis. I've owned 2 at this point.
@caseyliss If you didn't already get the memory "remote”. It really helps promote the use of the sit/stand working practice.
@caseyliss I love my Fullys. The larger one is a little wobblier than my small one. That may not afftect you (and your Studio Display) as I blame the terrible stand for my Dell monitor for that. The Dell stands are not remotely sturdy enough to prevent wobble while typing. The $1000 XDR stand seems very reasonable once you have a standing desk.
@caseyliss I've had two over the past 8 years (upgraded, wife got the old one), love them so much. I think you will too!
@caseyliss Thanks for the heads up! I've been interested in one and this sale pushed me to order legs only to use with my IKEA Karlby countertop.
@caseyliss Between this and the Studio Display, you have cost me $2000, but saved me $1000. I don’t know if I should thank you or tell you to shut the hell up.
@caseyliss how’s the new desk coming along? I finally carved out some space. Nice to move from the dining room table.
@_kit it’s great! It’s too dark to take a picture right now
@caseyliss I recommend the monitor shelf, to you know, keep things afloat. I hope you share your final set-up.
@caseyliss Which one did you order?
@brentharrell Uh, a slate one that’s 60” wide with three-stage risers. Or something like that
@caseyliss thanks for the tip! Just ordered a frame!
@caseyliss So no more glass top desk?
@jaytorres I don’t understand why everyone is so horrified by my desk, but, correct. Glass goes in the next 24 hours.
@caseyliss No horror here. I had a glass desk for years. We just moved so I’m in the market for a new desk so curious to hear the next ATP 👍🏼
