"Petrichor" - der Geruch von Regen. "Forscher d. MIT fanden heraus, dass Petrichor durch Bläschen hervorgerufen wird, die beim Auftreffen der Regentropfen auf einer Oberfläche bilden; sie platzen, wodurch sie aromatische Aerosole freisetzen und den Regengeruch hervorrufen."
@GreenSky
@GreenSky London! There’s my boy!
This #AdvertisingShitsInYourHead sticker @GreenSky posted is an advertisement for a book of that title. I’ll grant the irony, assuming it’s deliberate. https://www.pmpress.org/index.php?l=product_detail&p=967
Advertising Shits in Your Head: Strategies for Resistance

Advertising is powerful means of control through manipulation—and this book highlights how people across the world are fighting back.

Mildly annoyed by the line breaks just then, a poor solution struck me: modify the hashtag parsing regexp in Mastodon and other ActivityPub handlers to match but skip soft-hyphens. Heaps of fun with non-capturing groups, but. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soft_hyphen
Soft hyphen - Wikipedia

A slightly less dumb version would be @ivory inserting soft hyphens in hashtags between lowercase letters and subsequent uppercase letters. Display purposes only, behind the same option as any other automatic hyphenation, which is something I’ve been planning to muck around with for a while now.
@garthk @GreenSky That hashtag was doing the rounds a few years back, https://twitter.com/SpecialPatrols/status/798118099560103936

@GreenSky
That hashtag is best description of advertising I've ever seen.
@GreenSky That's got to be by Spelling Mistakes Cost Lives!

@GreenSky looking at the hashtag #advertisingshitsinyourhead, I landed to the website http://brandalism.ch/

Do not share it, it contains tutorials to hack adplaces, which screwdriver to use and so on...

Brandalism

Brandalism is a revolt against the corporate control of culture and space.

@GreenSky Reminds me of Signal's advertisement campaign where they put up ads on Instagram to show how much Facebook knows about it's users.

The Instagram ads Facebook won't show you

Companies like Facebook aren’t building technology for you, they’re building technology for your data. They collect everything they can from FB, Instagram, and WhatsApp in order to sell visibility into people and their lives. This isn’t exactly a secret, but the full picture is hazy to most – dim...
