A society that rushes to bail out banks, but doesn't provide universal health care to its people is politically and morally corrupt.
@rbreich Let me count the ways,,, and means testing.
@rbreich and economically bankrupt. Providing healthcare free at the point of delivery allows for greater freedom to innovate. Do you want to leave your job and start your own business to invent the new web? Good luck unless you’re rich enough to afford the massive premiums that private individual health insurance requires. We might have had the cure for cancer if the US had a rational health insurance system.
@drobert @rbreich cancer earns too much money to be cured...
@rbreich they can’t bail out students with what is a mere pittance compared to these billionaires. They should not be bailed out . It’s corrupt and wrong. Banks should NOT be bailed out, poor people should.
@rbreich The bank was not bailed out, Robert. And you know that. The depositors (customers) were made whole using funds from other banks’ insurance payments. Why do you feel it’s morally correct to lie to prove your point? Should it not stand alone if it is righteous?
@macenvy @rbreich They are extending those funds way beyond the 250k limit set by FDIC. So yeah it is a bailout. The Fed has just chosen not to call it one because technically they can. I don't think he is lying.

@rbreich
The GOP says: We aren't the country we used to be.

The realist says: In fact, we never were.

@rbreich guess that would be us! it's past time for the powers that be pay more attention to what is happening to the middle and lower classes than catering to the 1%ers who control the banks. had they not been so greedy & invested in illiquid financial products this banking mess would not have happened.
@rbreich @amandacsb2 A government that refuses to enforce regulations, allowing the banks to fail, is inept.
@rbreich are you talking about Biden expanding FDIC coverage for high dollar Democrat donors from Silicon Valley?
@rbreich is it possible that the situation is more complicated than a flippant post?
@rbreich This doesn't require an either or. I'm tired of having to pick sides on basic stuff.
@rbreich Astounding how fast the white guys’ banks got bailed out while student debt forgiveness languishes for 2 YEARS.
