They each have a 2x1 metre area for them and their trade block, but I think if I wanted to I could get it down to one square metre by having them stand on their trade block.
But I'm too considerate an employer to do that.

The good thing about the librarian rejig is I realised that 4 of them are basically useless to me so I've sent them off to be zombie bait instead.
At some point this evening I'm going to finally get up and work on Iron Farm #3. I spend a lot of time attempting to perfect iron farms because they're very useful.
I can sell the iron for emeralds and in the process gain a lot of XP, both very important for buying and using enchantment books which I need to enchant the armour which I inevitably need to replace when I immediately lose it stupidly when I head to the Nether to do something more exciting.
Just watched a 5 minute YouTube video about how to switch rail connections on Minecraft that could easily have just been a 9 word sentence.
"Apply redstone current to rail you want to change"
Left my minecrafter automatically mining the products of my amazing stone generator and forgot that if I mine for too long without mending my pickaxe it will just get used up.
So now I have to get a new one and replace all the enchantments that make it worth having.
Tbh it's not that big a deal as I have a backup supply of enchantment books these days because my whole minecraft strategy is fix everything so I can get back on track after I do stupid things*
*Learnt after many stupid things that caused a lot of grief
I decided to try to find a *stronghold* to find a portal to visit the third and final minecraft dimension but it seems the documented method doesn't work as described.
*Using* an ender eye should make it fly off in the right direction and it does that but I've been following it for almost 4000 blocks which is far beyond where my closest few strongholds should be.
Online posts about #minecraft should be legally required to tell you the date they were posted.
From what I read there are 128 strongholds appearing in concentric rings around the origin and also there are 3 in total in the whole overworld.
Pretty certain the latter is very old information that I can disregard, but also the former doesn't match up to my experience here.
Why use your spare computer time to mine cry*to when you can leave minecraft farming for gunpowder, spider string and eyes, rotten zombie flesh, bones and arrows?
Anyway, I found the stronghold and the end portal within.
I like that they give you a 2 'Eye of Ender' head start but have to find another 10 to activate it.
*checks inventory: like 30 eyes of Ender*
Sure, here you go...
See!
Not gone through it yet but will do soon when I'm a bit more prepared
Relocating my base in the Nether for tax reasons
My Minecraft enthusiasm is waning a bit so I'm getting my affairs in order by putting all my stuff in the new nether base and setting up portals to the important overworld places then I'll probably have a break.
This happened a month or two ago and then I was back with a vengeance.
Being a programmer, my #Minecraft break has turned into sorting out technical debt.
Getting all my stuff in one (more connected) place and streamlining all the automated production and having it routed and sorted to one area.
WTF?! The call is coming from inside the building.
Installed a graphics mod and it looks amazing and also it is so slow that it's COMPLETELY UNPLAYABLE
Gonna create a #minecraft flying machine just for the lols.
The physics of minecraft means that using pistons and slime you can push blocks forward and then pull the piston forwards to go forwards through the air indefinitely (or until you hit a mountain I guess).
I'm just interested to see how it would work. I don't think it has much in the way of useful applications
Oh no, I've fallen off my (surprisingly easy to build) flying machine.
Bye bye flying machine!
That's 3 pistons, 2 blocks of honey and 18 units of redstone dust I'll never see again.
Or will see at the next hill high enough to crash into if I can be bothered to go looking I guess.
Weirdly, I have a big row of librarians with various enchantments and 13 of them are completely still, like they're frozen in time.
I hope this only a temporary thing because these dudes are quite important.
Maybe there's a critical mass for librarians in a confined space?
Do you have any idea how much faff it is to force breed villagers by throwing potatoes at them and then waiting for them to become adults so you can throw them into a room with a zombie with a 50/50 chance of survival so I can cure/dezombify them with a complicated potion and a golden apple that uses more gold than is easily available just so they'll give me preferential rates on their enchantments because I saved them?
It's a lot!
As expected I finally lost my Netherite armour stupidly and tbh it's kind of a relief that I no longer have to worry about losing my netherite armour stupidly because I don't have any.
I'm not certain if the advantage over diamond armour is worth the faff of getting netherite. Either way, you should definitely save it for special occasions and not wear it all the time.
Or just get a LOT of netherite armour.
Now going to work on a spider farm because I ran out of spider string that I need for making the candles that I use to keep my slime farm lit enough to stop zombies, skeletons and creepers from spawning.
I can't even remember why I needed the slime farm any more.
This is what #minecraft does to you. It's just like real life.
Tbh this should be easy because I know of a spider spawner in a nearby mineshaft so I can just build the farm around that instead of having to create the conditions for spiders to spawn elsewhere.
Behold my nether multi-storey car park.
This was supposed to be a ghast farm but as yet.. NO GHASTS. I don't know why. Maybe they're shy?
Still, I've totally streamlined my obsidian production process
Basically the problem (I think) is I built it IN the Nether. Not on the nether roof. So there are already plenty of mobs within range and so the ghasts rarely spawn.
Dunno why but doing stuff on the nether roof feels like cheating to me.
Slowly moving my high value villagers to a high security obsidian room in the nether!
(I already seem to have lost one in transit but hopefully that's a one off...)
One of those guys isn't very valuable at all tbh. I just didn't want to risk the decent ones whilst testing this.
He's a total rip-off merchant: 42 emeralds for the Efficiency 5 enchantment.
Pah
I'm just salty because I actually had an *Efficiency 5 for 1 solitary emerald* librarian come up when I was generating them and I thought I already had one so destroyed his lectern to regenerate his offers.
Turned out the one I had was this 42 emerald dude.
Who remembers when these things were super sought after and you had to trek into a Nether Fortress and perform death-defying deeds of heroic derring do to get hold of two or three of them to make an Ender Chest?
And now they're just an over-produced by-product of my XP farm.
It's getting to the point where I'm going to have to find the Warden or summon a Wither and see how ridiculous they are.
I have some pretty serious semi-automatic production lines for all of the important stuff so it's that or general exploring.
(or obviously attempt to kill the Ender Dragon with ilarious consequences)
My amazing lava and obsidian production facility.
All I have to do is fill buckets with lava and put them in the many chests scattered about, and mine the obsidian I automatically generate with the lava. Everything goes to where it is needed via minecarts.
This big old construction seems in fact to be a tremendous DISPROOF of concept for this kind of gold farm. It's produced like two zombified piglins while Ive been watching and one despawned when I went away to leave it doing its thing.
0/10 would not recommend
@xmacdonald but there are YouTube videos suggesting this is a sensible idea.
I mean I guess it's sensible if you have VERY modest ideas of how much gold you're going to get and have LOTS or iron and flint to spare!
