Today is the 204 year anniversary of the "Civilization Fund Act," which paid white missionaries to partner with the federal govt to force Native Americans to convert to Christianity or die.
At its peak 357 such schools kidnapped Indigenous kids & abused & tortured them to death.

This is the sort of history Govs. DeSantis and Abbott would banish from classrooms.
It's okay for nonwhite children to have lived through such atrocities, but we can't upset the tender feelings of white kids.
Of course, even they are fair game when the gunman shows up at the school.

@QasimRashid I’ve been reading a book called The Swerve, about “how the world became modern.”
Anyway, there’s a “fun” couple of pages about how early Christians were forcing Jews out of their homes and demanding cities adopt their religion as they turned their eyes away from all the progress pagan scholars/ mathmaticians/scientists were making.
As I was reading that it was, like, “Huh, so not much has changed…”
