OldHound@alexwild Orwell’s essay “Politics and the English Language” remains as relevant today as when it was written. When I first read it back in 1989 in university as the Berlin Wall fell, I was hoping it would become part of our history. My optimism has faded a lot since then. 😔

Rob Bos@alexwild It's stuff like this that really drives recruitment for Canadian universities. Our international student fees are ridiculous, but at least you're somewhat less likely to be hit by targeted harassment, and there's almost always going to be a community that speaks your language.
