The swastika is an ancient, millennia-old Sanskrit symbol.

StarkRG@smurthys @eleeper @MarkHoltom Presumably because, in Hinduism, it's a symbol of prosperity and good luck. It's also used in Jainism and Buddhism across East Asia. Japanese maps, for example, use it to designate the location of Buddhist temples.

@smurthys Yes I saw that after I replied. I wasnβt excusing his characterization just explaining that ugly isnβt the first thing lots of people think when they see a swastika.
@eleeper @MarkHoltom Due to playing Minecraft, I've discovered that it's ludicrously easy to accidentally construct a swastika when all you have to work with are right angles.
