That didn't take long.
@MarkHoltom They once set up new library carrels this way where I worked, but it didn't take long for someone on the balcony to point out the problem. (They modified them right away, and I genuinely believe it was cluelessness, possibly from Indian designers.)
@eleeper @MarkHoltom "Indian designers"? What's the basis for that assessment, especially the "clueless" part?

@smurthys
The swastika is an ancient, millennia-old Sanskrit symbol.
"The word swastika is derived from the Sanskrit root swasti, which is composed of su 'good, well' and asti 'is; it is; there is'. The word swasti occurs ... in classical literature, meaning "health, luck, success, prosperity". ...The sign implies something fortunate, lucky, or auspicious, and it denotes auspiciousness or well-being."

It's pollution by the RW / Fascists began before WWI.

@beccanalia I'm aware of swastika's connection to India. My question is about the statement that the cubicle design was "cluelessness, possibly from Indian designers". A big leap to make those connections.
@smurthys @eleeper @MarkHoltom Presumably because, in Hinduism, it's a symbol of prosperity and good luck. It's also used in Jainism and Buddhism across East Asia. Japanese maps, for example, use it to designate the location of Buddhist temples.

@smurthys @eleeper @MarkHoltom In Indian culture the swastika has a long history way before the Nazi’s appropriated it.

@smurthys Yes I saw that after I replied. I wasn’t excusing his characterization just explaining that ugly isn’t the first thing lots of people think when they see a swastika.
@eleeper @MarkHoltom Due to playing Minecraft, I've discovered that it's ludicrously easy to accidentally construct a swastika when all you have to work with are right angles.
