I got the Alpine Loop band for my Apple Watch Ultra and, well, I immediately prefer this one to the Ocean band I initially got. Super comfortable, love the color, mechanism is great, and it's much easier to adjust. Recommended.
@viticci I’ve got an off market green alpine loop for my regular Apple Watch and it looks surprisingly good with it. One of my favorite band designs in recent years
@viticci does your temperature sensor work? Mine does not and neither does a friends…
@g5maniac @viticci You may already know this but the temp sensor doesn’t give you a specific number, nor does it record data into the Body Temperature area of Health. It goes into a separate Wrist Temperature that just shows deviation from your baseline, and helps inform cycle tracking for people who use that.
@dmnelson @viticci I do … but it doesn’t show anywhere
@g5maniac @viticci Do you wear your Watch over night? It gathers the temp data while you sleep (maybe so it isn’t biased by your activity level during the day?)
@viticci I agree with you on all points you mentioned, but… loop also works as a cleaning cloth and taking all that dust and dirt on the desk and holding him as white as new is almost impossible.
@viticci I use blue Ocean band for everyday use. Also hand the grey Trail loop. Alpine is the only one I haven’t got & it’s the mechanism that always puts me off if I’m honest. Maybe that’s more me than the actual band though.
@viticci Isn’t it a pain to put on and take off?
@viticci I started with the orange Alpine Loop and I agree that it’s the best looking band. I switched quickly to a Trail Loop/Sport Loop because I really need it to be freely adjustable.

@viticci

Are you happy with the Apple Watch Ultra?

@viticci It’s so great. @joshcalvetti has a couple that he dyed, and they look incredible.
@boateng @viticci yeah, the alpine loop is the best and it is pretty easy to dye the starlight one
@joshcalvetti @boateng @viticci interesting. How exactly did you dye it? Thx

@cory @boateng @viticci I just used the Rit synthetic dyes. I wound up combining colors until the solution looked about right, then I just submerged it for about 40m.

Rit tells you to boil the dye, but the hotter the solution, the more it shrinks the band. Honestly now that some time has passed, I wish apple would make an XL version of the band- dying brings the Large down to about a Medium, which isn't ideal, but hardly the end of the world. I think I kept the temperature about 130-140 °F.

@joshcalvetti @boateng @viticci Thx. Might try it on cheap amazon Alpine loops to test. Would not have expected the bands to shrink, that is good to know. No issues of the dye leaking out when cleaning them?

@cory Yeah, I think it's mostly the small amount of elastic in the bands that shrinks a bit. I did the blue one second and it was much closer to the original size than the purple- but hey, that's how you learn.

I’ve not had any dye bleeding out of them- I probably wouldn't try washing them with super hot water, but cold washing worked just fine for me. I took my pot and ran cold water into it from the sink until that water was all clear, then kept rinsing the band until it was clear as well

@viticci I also went for the ultra. My beloved series 4 was having a screen failure. It’s been a joy using the ultra, best upgrade imo!
@viticci my favorite so far too.

@viticci Didn’t like the Ocean band either. A friend recommended a cheap knockoff from Amazon which I absolutely LOVE. So much that I actually bought three other colour variants.

@viticci I loved this band it just got dirty very quick 😭.
@viticci That looks great. I really like that band and its means of attachment/adjustment. I got my Ultra with the black/gray Trail Loop, which is comfortable and basically infinitely adjustable. It even has a small amount of stretch. That said, I keep going back to my Speidel Twist-O-Flex. Picked one up in brushed stainless, and it’s a decent match with the Ultra’s titanium.
@viticci I found the alpine loop clasp to be a little too fiddly, plus it seems to get dirty fast. I prefer the trail loop over the alpine (haven’t tried the ocean; I don’t like the colors), but tend to wear a good old sport band most of the time, and the braided solo loop when I travel (more pickpocket proof, plus easier to remove and put back on when going through security at the airport.)
@viticci next to get is Trail Loop which is even better. 🙃Bought each, liked Trail so much more thus bought more of them. Way more.
@viticci just curious, what weather complication are you using to get daily weather like that?
@viticci Looks great. Good thing your ink stops where it does. I’m sure you planned that.
I’m with @imyke about waiting until this fall. My series4 will need replacing for sure by then.
Nice looking TV area too!
@viticci Looks good on you 👍🏼
@viticci the Alpine Loop is fantastic but it picks up dirt at an alarming rate.
@viticci so I guess Apple Watch peer pressure really does work. @ismh @imyke
@viticci ooooosh! That is nice. A nice contrast to the big colour of the tats! I wonder whether it’s going to get dirty easily?
@viticci I love the look and feel of mine, but where I like to wear my watch is sadly right between two loops. Im hoping I can stretch it out just a bit so it fits better where I typically wear my watch with my Sport Loop.
@viticci This is my go to for the Ultra as well and I love it. Good color choice too 😁
@matt @viticci I’m hoping we get some more ultra bands this spring.

@matt @viticci I’m planning on picking up an Ultra soon to replace my S4 - do you know if can you wear the alpine band in a swimming pool similar to how you can with the Velcro sport loop bands?

Also curious, can you say if the Ultra has a stronger haptic engine than the regular watches?

@edmistond @matt @viticci the Apline loop is not great for water in my experience. Seems to take a while to dry. It absorbs sweat too during workouts. I just picked up the Ocean band for this reason.
@superdavey @edmistond @viticci It does hold onto some water, but I am used to the sport loops, which take like 2 days to dry out, so this is great for me 😋
@edmistond @matt @viticci On the haptic engine piece it feels stronger. I can have gloves on, or be in the middle of a bike ride and definitely notice when it goes off. It’s powerful enough to wake me up from a deep sleep so that’s saying something. :D
@realmac @matt @viticci That’s why I was wondering - I’m deaf and was using my watch for my alarm for a long time but now I’ve learned to sleep through it ☹️
@matt @viticci I have the same band as well. Also little recommendation—the leather loop bands look excellent with the Ultra. I have umber and midnight leather loop I go back and forth with.
@dominocollege @matt @viticci I have the black leather loop on my black S8 and I LOVE it. So easy and comfortable.

@dopeyeyes @dominocollege @viticci I love the leather loops on the normal watches, but the Ultra just makes them look so thin on me 😂

It’s not bad by any means, I just dig the wider bands with the much wider Ultra personally.

@matt @dopeyeyes @viticci might depend on your wrist size?
@viticci I’d recommend you be like @ismh and get all three, because the Trail Loop is the most comfortable watch band to date!
@viticci it looks great, I also suggest this one dark, very fitting with dark clothes ☺️
@viticci looks like made of gauze to me.
@viticci how sick would that band contrast fully sleeved tats to the wrist.
@viticci the trail one is the best imo. Alpine is great, but I found the mechanism tedious after a few days
@viticci Just get the stainless steel link bracelet. Have mine since 2015 and it fits the Ultra perfectly.
@viticci I love it, but it gets really dirty and I still haven't figured out a way to clean it properly.

@viticci The Alpine Loop is absolutely better than the Ocean band. But do you know what is even better, *more* adjustable, and *more* comfortable?

@viticci @ateszz doesn’t it strecth with usage? I have to use smaller setting time and time again as the thing streches. But even with that my fav band
@viticci In Starlight, no less! Rockin' it.
@viticci looks like it might be a little small on you? IIRC the clasp is not supposed to sit under your wrist as it can scratch your laptop or whatever is under your wrist at the time. I had to go swap mine out for the large version.
@viticci I started with a bright orange Alpine Loop and it started to discolor rather quickly. How do you think the color is going to hold up on that?
