@atpfm Big security issue w Apple Passwords. After Face ID fails a few times, it default back to your passcode. Friend was on vaca in New Orleans other weekend and was targeted. They must have been watching him at dinner/longer and he entered his passcode at one point. They stole his 15 Pro, immediatly changed his iCloud password and tried to login to bank info. With passcode, all apple passwords stored are exposed. Not so with 1Pass with separate pass phrase. This stopped my trans to Passwords.

The Action button is great, but what if you could assign it *two* shortcuts instead of just one?

Introducing MultiButton, my latest shortcut to automatically cycle between two shortcuts from the same Action button press.

Free to download for everyone, including some Action button shortcuts to get started: https://www.macstories.net/ios/introducing-multibutton-assign-two-shortcuts-to-the-same-action-button-press-on-iphone-15-pro/

Introducing MultiButton: Assign Two Shortcuts to the Same Action Button Press on iPhone 15 Pro

I got my iPhone 15 Pro Max last week, and I’m loving the possibilities opened by the Action button combined with the Shortcuts app. But as I was playing around with different ideas for the Action button, I had a thought: Wouldn’t it be great if instead of just one shortcut, I could toggle between

@glennf @gruber A great feature for any Mac with ≥2 USB C ports would be built-in cable testing. You plug both ends of one cable to the Mac, and the OS automatically detects that, no UI needed, and pops up a dialog saying “this cable supports x mbps and x Watts power delivery”. That’s it, there is no step 3!

Please keep up the good work, Canada.

My next book is *The Internet Con: How to Seize the Means of Computation*: it's a #BigTech disassembly manual that explains how to disenshittify the web and bring back the old good internet. The hardcover comes from Verso on Sept 5, but the #audiobook comes from me - because Amazon refuses to sell my audio:

The excellent @gruber offers a Translation From Hostage Code to English of X Corp CEO Linda Yaccarino’s Company-Wide Memo. (Next he's gonna do James Joyce's Ulysses.)

I agree with @gruber. Not federating is certainly a choice admins can make, but it's unlikely to have an impact considering that Threads is being bootstrapped off the Instagram social graph.

Would you rather keep the fediverse restricted to its current population of ~8M people or scale it to ~2.35B+?

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman: Reddit ‘was never designed to support third-party apps’

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman tells The Verge that he’s fine that some of Reddit’s most-beloved third-party apps are shutting down, claiming they didn’t add value to the platform and were “subsidized” by other users.
