Después de 5 días peleándome con Krita, un patrón incompleto de 25 pavos y haciendo 5 cascos de papel, al fin empieza lo divertido

Color!
The modelling is part of the process, the most notable difference between industrial and handmade armours #handmade #leathercraft #leatherwork #leatherarmor #leather #cuero #coiro #artesania #larp
The leaves are the most creative part of this piece, I had lots of fun modelling them!
The proccess is very simple: first bending each leaf through the central nerve
Then, pinching the center nerve by the flesh side, we push gently but firmly the rest of the leaf against the table, to open the piece again but getting two convex sides in each leaf and giving each of them a bit of a curve along the lenght
If we want to make the leaves more curvy around the edges (and we want because in the drying proccess and while we manipulate them painting and riveting, they are going to lose a bit of the form), we can hold each leave pinching them by the center of the sides and press almost in perpendicular against the table again. We don't need perfect rounded edges, here uneven means more natural. We can use only the finger at the complicated angles or to make them more uneven
And now the painting! I gave them a midyellow tone base with a little bit of brown, painted with airbrush, because the client want a late summer-early autumn tone to contrast the green of the helm. The decorative borders are going to be golden, so hopefully the contrast will still match somehow

The leaves were going to be stained with tones of green, red and brown. The main technic is a cloth shadowing (I don't know the technical name in english) along each leaf, combined with some touches of the wool daubers to create uneven
withered stains of red and brown

The borders of the helm are golden, but I wanted to make it look like metal, so some lightning and shadowing were required. The first two hands are bronze, then three more of light golden applied in little touches in the center of the convex volumes

The next part is the attachment of the leaves, riveted by hand because of the form and volumes of the helm #handmade #leathertutorial #leathercraft #leatherwork #leatherarmor #leather #cuero #coito #artesania #madeingalicia #larp
The borders were still too plain in colour so we decided to apply some tan antique to stand out the contrast

@sairaworkshop cool work
@crafantale Thanks a lot! First time colouring leaves and it was pretty fun to do!
@sairaworkshop what kind of paint did you use?
@crafantale the yellow base is acrylic painting, the rest of the colours are alcohol based dye, Fiebings specifically
@sairaworkshop I hadn't thought of using cloth for it. Nice!
@sairaworkshop Mira de verdad haces cosas demasiado bonitas eres la hostia estoy orgullosísima de ti
@sairaworkshop It’s amazing to see how that flat, splayed out shape comes together to form a 3D helmet!
@piraino I've been learning to work leather for 7 years already and I'm the first one to be amazed by that still!
@sairaworkshop love that colour!
@Moodre thanks a lot! The colour dye is Kelly green from Fiebings, applied with airbrush 💚
