@gvy_dvpont I love it! I think Iโ€™ll try to build one :3.
@gvy_dvpont excellent. I once used https://espresense.com/ to turn the lights *off* as people entered rooms in our house and *on* again when they left them ๐Ÿ™ƒ

@gvy_dvpont this is extremely cool. Basic question but why does it need WiFi?
@algal no that's a great question. I'm using WiFi to automatically set the time. If I used an actual clock module, I'd have to add buttons or something for the user to set the time. This is overkill but simplifies the build
@gvy_dvpont ah! Thinking of building one. I already have a free usb-c plug on my desk, so why not? โ˜บ๏ธ
All Clocks Lead to Rome | Living with Plan B

@aderieg ah I loved that, thanks for sharing
@gvy_dvpont My dad used to set all the clocks on the main floor of the house 5 to 7 minutes fast, so he would get himself out of the house on time. It didn't matter how many times it happened, I never learned my lesson. I'd look at the time on my phone upstairs, decide I had a few minutes to have a quick bite to eat before I left for work, and then FLIP THE HELL OUT when I looked at the stove or microwave... like clockwork ๐Ÿ˜…
@gordoooo_z @gvy_dvpont I used to set my clocks fast, but I quickly adjusted to it so now Iโ€™m late when I look at a clock with the right time
@gvy_dvpont Now the bosses can set the clock to show the time 3 hours ago and get 3 more hours of work out of each worker per day.
@britishtechguru nooo boooooo productivity
@gvy_dvpont Just think how much more you could achieve with more work hours, fewer sleep hours and zero other hours :p
@gvy_dvpont brb, off to write this into a murder mystery
@gvy_dvpont bwahaha thatโ€™s evil ๐Ÿ˜€

@gvy_dvpont would love to know if this breaks the rule of a broken clock is right twice a day
@EeveeEuphoria only if it breaks! If it works, it's always wrong.
@gvy_dvpont Can you reverse it so it shows the wrong time until someone looks at it and then shows the correct time?
@rasterweb yep! Just need to add a "not" in the code.

@rasterweb @gvy_dvpont

Or have the analog clock version of this freeze the second hand whenever someone is watching, thus creating a very exaggerated chronostasis illusion

The mystery of the stopped clock illusion

Have you ever stared at a second hand on a clock and thought that time seemed to stand still for a moment? Itโ€™s not just you.

@gvy_dvpont Lucid dreaming check par excellence.

@gvy_dvpont

its got performance anxiety that is the cutest thing ever

@gvy_dvpont clock that need webcam to display time - if you add AI for facetracking and require constant internet connection - will be absolutely amazing and modern idea for startup!
@danil that's not far off from what I have here!
@gvy_dvpont schrรถdingerโ€™s clock lol
@gvy_dvpont Nice. You could use a similar approach for a picture of a lady constantly staring at you, no matter which side of the picture you stand on. Literally, finally; not just painting hacks with foggy eyeballs or shadow tricks :)
@gvy_dvpont why would you do such a thing

@gvy_dvpont I have two regular clocks on my walls. Iโ€™m already unsure just what time it actually is.

but this is cool nonetheless.

@gvy_dvpont It is like this gif. It only shows the correct time when absolutely no one or anything is watching It!!
@gvy_dvpont I love it! Now, figure out how to do it mechanically, haha
@gvy_dvpont That is evil. Wonderfully evil.
@gvy_dvpont I would need a clock that was about 5 minutes 'fast' when I look at it.
@lou I've gotten this a few times today and I honestly think it's a great idea. Could have different settings for different people!
@gvy_dvpont workplace prank ideas are flooding my head ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
@gvy_dvpont
That's pretty shitty, but also awesome ๐Ÿ˜€
I once got an analog electric wall clock, which ran on the 50hz signal of the grid. It wasn't working, so I took it apart. Found a cog that seemed to block sometimes and decided to remove it. That was the mechanism to prevent it from running backwards.
So I let it run backwards all the time.
Taught myself to tell time in mirror image.
Only problem: every time I saw a wall clock, I instinctively read the mirror time.
@gvy_dvpont
It should be singing "does anybody know what time it is."
