I'm surprised to hear that backers aren't getting their mark II's.. because I did receive mine (but yeah as you said. The official software is terrible)
@thelinuxEXP, @niccolove made a similar video about #FOSS funding that made me contemplate the issue and make multiple toots (sorry, I know you hate the slang).
I really think there needs to be (and maybe there already is) a BSD/MIT style of license that stipulates if a commercial organization is generating <n> significant digits of profit annually, then that organization is compelled to contribute, in a recurring manner, code maintenance or direct monetary compensation of a maintainer.
