Minnesota State Senator John Jasinski arguing against marijuana legalization:

"The police dog discussion and all that. What's it gonna cost the local law enforcement agencies who've done these dogs-- who've spent thousands and thousand of dollars on these dogs to get these dogs drug trained. And now they're gonna have to be retired?"

@micahflee As he secretly buys a bag of weed on the way home.
@micahflee State senator argues we should continue sending human beings to prison because he doesn't want a dog to be unemployed
@Rawwwb and yet they want to increase the number of humans who are unemployed. Wtf?
@micahflee somebody gotta teach him how to argue better.
@micahflee Well, this compelling argument has certainly changed MY mind. #WillNoOneThinkOfTheDogs
@micahflee so if we adopt all the cute dogs, we’ll have a deal, senator?
@micahflee Every time I think I have heard the dumbest possible argument, someone really reaches for the stars
@micahflee Well, actually no, Senator, the illegal sales still compete
@micahflee Just wow. They are now circling back to the beginning demand for funding for those dogs. How long of a useful life to service animals have before they need to be retired? How long will it take legislation to become effective?
@micahflee I keep hearing the southern border is very rife with drug crossing....so maybe send them there?
@micahflee wow, what a stupid argument-- "dog careers are more important than human lives." I've heard that this mentality led to cannabis prohibition in the first place-- after alcohol prohibition was repealed, all the enforcing cops were out of a job, so they pressed to criminalize cannabis. (This is just one factor; there were others, such as racism and anti-immigrant sentiment, a psychotic prosecutor who managed to sway Congress, etc.)
@micahflee you might think a man with a degree in finance would understand the sunk cost fallacy but you'd be wrong
@micahflee Again astounded by the caliber of white guys elected to public office, and not in a good way

@micahflee

Keep ruining peoples' lives so the law enforcement investment in pot sniffing dogs isn't wasted.

There's some empathy.

@micahflee You're free to keep linking from a horrible, anti-democratic, pro-fascist website that has clearly stated its hatred for media, at least until the instance stops you.

But I'm free to mute you for it, right now, for good.

Goddamn, how come journalists don't know better already?

@micahflee And all these bullets and batons and tear gas. Are you telling me you want us to stop shooting, beating, and gassing our people? That'd be waste of their goddamned taxpayer money.

@micahflee
ROFL! Yeah, let's not dare upset the canine employment market in exchange for some shred of personal, human freedom.

The pups'll just have to pivot.

@micahflee It's really incredible how some politicians haven't learned that their job is to facilitate solutions to problems and when the problem is solved they need to move onto the next problem and the next until THEIR JOB is no longer required???
@micahflee Sunk cost fallacy in full swing - long time since I've seen such a prime example of it.
