I'm doing a mini #Kurosawa film festival as I'm stuck in my house while they paint it. First was #Rashomon, now it's #Yojimbo.

Rashomon was amazing. Where did the baby come from?!

In Yojimbo, a dog just trotted by with a human hand in its mouth.

This is gonna be so good.

The point is not to get trapped into technooptimism by the PR for industrial operations.

Everything has tradeoffs. Nothing on this industrial scale is unalloyed good news. We learned that with hydropower. There is a cost, and the PR narrative undervalues those who pay it.

So the "Bud" Lewis Carlsbad Desalinization Plant near San Diego that everyone is spreading "good news" about from a WSJ article?

Its discharge brine is way more concentrated than recommended. If the sea ecosystem nearby weren't already devastated by industry, it'd be killing the local sea life.
