#JKRowling doesn't just espouse transphobic beliefs [0], she funds a sexual assault clinic that explicitly turns away trans women [1], and aligns herself with eugenicists and alt-right anti-abortion homophobes [2].

Buying #HogwartsLegacy directly funds her efforts to harm trans causes and take away the rights of trans people. You should not buy it.

@stevestreza honestly none of her public comments seem as egregious as they are reported on many outlets. She has beliefs, shouldn’t she have the right to have them? Are they bad opinions? Yes, but they don’t seem as extreme as they are often made out to be. I find it extreme to go as far as to tell other people enjoying a game is funding some type of an evil person. She may be wrong, but she is not evil. Buying Hogwarts legacy is not the same as buying something like Mein Kampf, Respectfully
@Bto They are not "bad opinions", they are a political position which she regularly leverages to regress trans rights, or to deny trans people access to care. She has a fortune to use to achieve those political goals. She's aligned herself with ultra-conservatives who advocate eugenics and taking away gay rights or abortion rights. And by purchasing the game, you directly and indirectly fund those causes.
@stevestreza but isn’t everything political? As much as I am pro aboriton rights, I do see how someone who is against is still coming from a not evil person perspective. It’s a gray area I wish we could all at least accept that. Eugenics topic I Willa crept I am not to familiar with. But I think, equating this game to this is not right. Like it or not Harry Potter will always be a cultural thing that people will flock to immerse themselves. Rightfully so.
@Bto @stevestreza It reallydoes matter, and her politics come through in the game; some of the events the game is centered around involve maintaining the oppression of marginalized groups that are rooted in things like antisemitic caricatures.
@eschaton @stevestreza sorry for my ignorance on this one, who are those being marginalized in the game? I know very little of the game that’s why I am asking.
@Bto @stevestreza The game involves putting down the "goblin uprising,” where the short large-nosed people who live in a ghetto and handle the wizarding world’s money want more self-determination rather than to be subject to a bunch of exclusionary rules.
@eschaton ohhh yeah there you are definetly right. That’s super anti semitic. That actually makes sense. Actually the movies are as guilty as that yikes.
