This is a FREE teen ebook library card service from the Brooklyn (NY) Public library available nationwide. It was launched to combat book banning.

Books Unbanned | Brooklyn Public Library

In April 2022, Brooklyn Public Library joined those fighting for the rights of teens nationwide to read what they like, discover themselves, and form their own opinions. Inspired by the American Library Association's Freedom to Read Statement, Books Unbanned is a response to an increasingly coordinated and effective effort to remove books from library shelves.

@MadKane I didn't know that! I have to bookmark this. And did you I have an ongoing research project on #NYC for my #WIP? I'm excited to see you mention #Brooklyn. If you have any other fun stuff about #NYC, past or present, shoot it my way! Thanks in advance!

Q: Any books banned in other states?

@yieng

Actually New York doesn't ban books. This project by the Brooklyn NY library is to send ebooks to out of state teens who live in states where books are banned. States like Texas, Florida, and other states mentioned in this article:

"Texas came in first as the state with the largest number of book bans at 713, followed by Pennsylvania with a striking 456 bans, Florida with 204, Oklahoma with 43, Kansas with 30 and Tennessee with 16, according to the report."
