#Lagerstroemia (also crepe myrtle, or crepeflower) is native to the Indian Subcontinent and also to Southeast Asia, China, Korea and Japan.

I believe my ID app has identified this correctly. I couldn’t get close to this one as it was set back in the front garden of its home in #Gardenvale #Australia.

But from afar it caught my eye and it certainly has the splendour fitting to share with the good folk of #mastodon!

@NessaUndreza Where I live, hot summers no freezing, these things are borderline nuisance. They have white, pink, red, and purple. They grow so quickly that most people have no qualms about whacking a full limb whenever it gets in the way as it will recover. Don't get me started on the roots and the difficulty of killing them.

The power district gives them away as shade trees. I wouldn't take another even if you paid me. Admittedly, in full bloom they are quite attractive; I'll admire them from afar.
