In the spirit of sharing quality content, please enjoy my favorite meme of all time.
@mzbat literally and figuratively true
@mzbat I guess that's what you call… a chip off the old block.
@mzbat That's just brilliant
@mzbat Try as I might, I can't fault this for being wrong.
@mzbat πŸ˜‚β€οΈ
@mzbat I love this but that’s a pointer and I don’t know how to reconcile my love of archeology, puns, and pedantry
@mzbat Thank you for that laugh!

@mzbat

OH MY GOOD GOD….. πŸ˜³β€¦..well that will keep me awake.

@mzbat
(alt text, please?)
@mzbat
The ancients had better alignment with the precursor
@hntdove
@mzbat
That meme is rather pointed, don't you think?
@mzbat This is my all time favorite meme.

@mzbat O Great Spirit of sharing quality content: moar plz thx!

(I wonder if that would work as a Halloween costume)

@mzbat solid meme. Very solid meme

@mzbat

This is great. How have I not seen this before?

Lucky me, I must be one of today's 10,000!!!

@mzbat , yep, that meme is iconic.
@mzbat No lies detected πŸ˜†
@mzbat A fine meme, for sure, but IMHO nothing tops this:
Cursor Museum

A very brief history of pointing devices

Cursor Museum

@mzbat meh. Such click bait leads to *adz*.

<expectant expression>

a... d... Z!

Get it?

A neolithic tool that...

Oh. Well not everyone knows that word.

@mzbat
Odd that the precursor is more symmetrical.
@mzbat seriously for a sec, think about how much stuff was made out of wood, a nearly infinitely easier to work material, and when it broke was just chucked in a fire for fuel, or it rotted away. This Is what they did with stone, the spears or bows or canoes could have been so perfectly crafted, with no surviving evidence.
@mzbat You might have a point there.
@twobiscuits @mzbat OMG what a flaky comment. I need to take a knap.
@mzbat
I like that meme. The most common, a unless you change it the universal, cursor on computers is the shape of the old arrow heads. A coincidence?
@mzbat dragonflies predated dinosaurs

@mzbat lovely joke :)

When do we think the age of the computer cursor officially began? Some time in the 1960s? https://spectrum.ieee.org/graphical-user-interface

How the Graphical User Interface Was Invented

Mice, windows, icons, and menus: these are the ingredients of computer interfaces designed to be simplicity itself to use. But the development was anything but simple. It took some 30 years of effort.

@mzbat allow me to append this illustration from my PhD.
@mzbat Literally had this on my server since forever: https://helmet.kafuka.org/precursor.cur
curl http://helmet.kafuka.org/precursor.cur

403 Forbidden

403 Forbidden

nginx

@kawa

@clacke my bad, that should be https.
@kawa Same response.
@clacke It's cos you're trying to use curl. I don't know why that doesn't work but I got the same result just now. Just clicking the link worked fine, wget worked fine.
@kawa Interesting. With my browser I get the file. Is it something about the Accept header?
@mzbat
"A gift of memes, in all good faith..."

@mzbat Considering I work in a museum this is a good companion to the most museumist joke ever:

What do you call a really old joke?

I will now go and hide πŸ«₯
