For folks running the latest Ivory beta, how's the dupe boost filtering working out? Feels pretty good to me.
@paul yah, it seems to be working great! Seeing basically no dupes!
@paul yeah I'm seeing zero dupes and it's terrific.
@paul I’m loving it. Only thing is it’s a black box. I don’t know how good it’s working.
@andyfragen that was the goal, hopefully you won't notice it.
@paul then it’s flawless.
@paul Much better, was getting so many dupes before but not seen a single one since. 👍🏼

@paul Feels good!

Does it eventually let a dupe back through after something like "I haven't rendered this for 24 hours"?

@mikeymikey yeah, it's 4ish days now, but I may change it up/down, not sure what the best value should be.
@paul 4 seems good to me. 1 would be too short, definitely. 2 - unsure. 3 or 4 seems great.
@mikeymikey @paul I agree four days seems reasonable. A tad longer or shorter would be fine too. Just so long as I don’t see the same post several times a day, I’m happy. 😍
@paul @mikeymikey Perhaps it should be a user-adjustable value, at least for awhile.
@paul @mikeymikey would prefer 2-3 day resurface. still not sure how i feel about not seeing dupes at all, i liked seeing the popularity of boosts. I know i'm in the minority tho
@whatthecj @mikeymikey I'm thinking about it, might go down to 2 and see how it feels. It's a balancing act.
@paul any room left in the beta?
@paul same. Had a few slip through as new ones loaded in (like mentioned) but it’s otherwise been fantastic. Allowed me to turn on boosts from some other accounts again that I had disabled
@paul Seems to work flawlessly. No way to check, though.
@paul what still not filtered out if one boost his own posts. That should also be filtered out. But yeah it seems to working pretty well
@joshuabeny1999 pretty sure it should filter those too, don't have any special logic for self vs other boosts.
@paul hmm it didn't work. But maybe it was because I saw the original post before the update and the boost of that post one day later again.
@joshuabeny1999 oh yeah, this is forward moving only.
@paul it’s enabled by default right? I believe it’s working pretty good, but at the same time it’s hard to assess absence, especially since Ivory is the only way I access Mastodon.

@paul Is I enabled magical like? I couldn't find the setting for it. I'm didn't notice a lower amount of reposts (about half) but chalked it up to a slow Sunday.

I did just find the option to follow hashtags. Thank you!!

@paul what’s the beta link bro??
@paul I haven’t noticed any so I think it’s working great.
@paul how is it different from the server side setting that defaults to being on?
@rrgeorge that only stops dupes if they are really close together, it barely works
@paul I have questions on how this is implemented… if I scroll to the top past a filtered boost, do I miss every subsequent boost of that post? Or does deduplication only occur once the post has been “seen”?
@paul Not sure I’ve seen any since the update! Working great.
@paul Working very well 👏👏👏
@paul working great as far as I can tell!
@paul Seems to be working great. Haven’t seen a dupe in a while.
@paul Way less duplicate boosts then before 🙌
@paul works well for me (after spending 20 minutes trying to find the non-existent option to enable it)
@paul Fantastic, I love it! Such a huge improvement.
@paul i haven’t been able to find it actually! 🙈
@manolo it’s automatic. No options. 🙂
@mark @manolo please make it a setting, I prefer the native functionality.
@mark ohh i see, i thought it was another setting to change. well i don’t think i’ve seen any so it must be working! haha
altho i don’t think i ever got too many of those before, probably don’t follow enough people to make it a big problem…
@paul well @donmelton does still seem to get first boost which feels right.
@paul haven’t seen a single dupe!
@paul so far really well. Haven’t seen a duplicate since it installed.
@paul seems to be working well. Personally, I think this feature needs a toggle. If multiple followers are boosting a specific post, there may be a good reason. I’d rather it be on my timeline multiple times than miss the post entirely.
@paul so far, so good, but how do your prove a negative. Would love to see the tracking data used in some kind of “these posts are boosted a lot” kind of thing in the Search/Trending section, in the future 🙂
@jochie I prove it with, I haven't been annoyed by seeing the same thing over and over.
@paul What is the retention of the boost data? I’m 99% certain I saw both these boosts in the picture _after_ I installed the new TF version, yesterday. I think some clients have an option to show when a post was boosted instead of when it was posted, that would be handy in this particular (debugging) case 😁
@jochie the dupe data got reset as part of the update, so not really unexpected.
@paul Oh, I hadn’t seen the newer TF update yet, I’m still running the 10002 build that I installed yesterday.
@paul I’m really curious what the app’s logic is. Is it still allowing one boost to get through per day?
@paul I didn’t even know seeing the same post boosted multiple times was a thing. Of course, I only follow 31 accounts. Maybe I’m just lucky.
@paul looking good so far, no problems :)
@paul it’s a game changer! ❤️
@paul Seems to work well for me.
