If you enjoy interacting with people who have strong opinions and minimal real life experiences, may I recommend teenagers.
@medusaousa The more sullen they are, the better. 😜
@leftfieldfarm πŸ˜‚ truth
@medusaousa But the four-year old grandchild has her own, um, "charms". Pure id with no superego to moderate it. I had blessedly blocked that part out.
@leftfieldfarm oh, I wish you the best of luck
@medusaousa how cruelly you slight male college sophomores
@datn πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ how did you know?! I have 2
@medusaousa My favorite interaction was my oldest. Years ago I was trying to help him with an issue with their mobile phone. Had to ask questions and look at settings to isolate the issue. He wanted an immediate fix and when I didn't have the answer in 30 seconds he said something like 'Wow, for someone who's worked in IT for so long, you don't know much.' πŸ˜’
@phoccer wow, I have no words πŸ˜†πŸ˜©
@medusaousa I handed his phone back and wished him good luck. I actually got a laugh out of it because it was such an outrageousness comment. But yeah, they are something to deal with.
@phoccer they’re the best! πŸ˜‚

@medusaousa I'll never forget my daughter coming home after her 1st semester in college, sitting on the couch, and asking me:

"Mom, why were you such a bitch when I was in high school?"

Me: "Because when you're a teenager you can ruin your life in an hour. You can get pregnant or get someone pregnant, you can get in an accident, you can ruin your academics..."

Daughter thinks about it for a beat, and says: "Okay, that's fair."

@joy πŸ˜‚ love it, she’s a quick learner
@medusaousa Let me assure you, it was quite the journey to arrive at that level of understanding. (That latter half of junior year and senior year of HS took a lot of out me as a parent. But anyway, we survived.)
@joy I imagine and I bet your relationship is all the better for it
@medusaousa
Been there, done that.
Now I'm experiencing customers.
@EvilK how long does it last? My kids are 20 now
@medusaousa
Once you get them successfully married you can pretty much breathe.
My daughter is on her second marriage, but I think this one will last.
@EvilK oh gosh, ok. I can do this!
@medusaousa
By all means, do so.
And if you can marry them off to a wealthy individual that's not a horse's ass, go for it.
@EvilK πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½

@medusaousa I have three high-schoolers in the same house. Twin seniors and a sophomore.

I'm very wrong much of the time.

@davidr triplets here, so I very much feel you!!!
@medusaousa I love how they still have hope.
@Thoreau it is great to see the world through their Kaleidoscope lens
@medusaousa I have a couple extra if you need some.
@bluedotmo πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ no thank you. My triplets are finally out of the teen years. I can’t start over
@medusaousa Ask your doctor if teenagers are right for you. Side effects include: sleepless nights, heartburn, irritability, high blood pressure, and lack of folding money.
@chris πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½
@medusaousa if you enjoy that, may I recommend Twitter?
@medusaousa Don’t forget what great sources of information they are. They know everything.
@medusaousa but I don't enjoy that, actually. It's why I came to Mastodon!

@medusaousa one day my older son and I will sit down over scotch and talk about all the times I came *this* close to killing him, but didn't.

Kidding/not kidding. Borderline Personality Disorder is unbelievably difficult to live with.

@jpthuot03 πŸ˜‚I hope you do one day and I can only imagine. xx
