If you want people to follow you here on Mastodon, one tip I have is to set your user avatar. People, myself included, are much more likely to follow you back if they can put *some* kind of face w/ a name. Profile banner too but def the avatar. Thx 👍

@gedeonm I’ve sometimes wondered if I should use my face, but I’ve had this street corner avatar (yes, it’s real) for so many years, it feels like it’s become me. :-D

@jonasclindgren @gedeonm my go to is usually if the pfp I choose has a background I’ll crop it and use that. If I use a selfy I usually just take a picture of the sky or something.

@gedeonm agreed. I don’t follow those that can’t take the time to simply add something in place of the default.
