What will it take for Democrats to reform the police?
@bensalinas Shouldn’t single out Democrats on this. Republicans could help out if they gave a shit either.
@robstahlnecker I have no faith in the fascist Republican Party to reform the police. My energy is better spent on Democrats who claim they care about these issues
@bensalinas I don’t expect them to either. I just hate letting them off the hook. It’s like rewarding them for being so shitty but I don’t want to derail your main point.

@bensalinas Police and policing can not be reformed. That kind of thinking leads nowhere.

The entire system must be rebuilt from a new foundation that addresses the causes of crime (public policies that create and perpetuate poverty) and provides a universal standard of public services that safely houses, healthily feeds, thoroughly educates, and medically cares for everyone.

Reform is small and cowardly regressive thinking.

Fully #TaxTheRich #DefundThePolice

@bensalinas you mean like they have in San Francisco?
@bensalinas 🤦‍♂️ Who do you think they're working for right about now?
@bensalinas I'm sure it's in their queue, right after reforming capitalism.

@bensalinas We had police reform under Obama. Police departments fought what they could and Trump repealed what he could.

The problem is the federal government has limited power and local/state politicians are scared of police unions and how Republicans weaponize anything as soft on crime.

I heard Democrats lost seats in New York state due to fearmongering on crime; including the George Santos seat. We might have the House otherwise.

Fact check: Obama administration implemented several police and prison reforms

Did President Barack Obama's administration put in place police and prison reforms?

USA TODAY
@bensalinas Biden wants to hire 100,000 more cops without first addressing cop culture. Reform isn't even on the agenda.
@bensalinas All of their mothers dying, apparently.
@bensalinas Wealthy white people getting regular beatings from cops.
@bensalinas Balls. They have to be willing to criticize law enforcement without fearing the RW allegations of being “anti-police” or “soft on crime.”
@bensalinas a blue house and more than 2 years
@bensalinas their donors getting murdered
@bensalinas Better question, what will it take for Dems to stop believing the fairytale fantasies about establishment politicians. They knew the Floyd bill wouldn’t pass while giving them an additional 2 billion dollars.
@GwladysPendlebury I’m literally a socialist and have no faith in the Democratic Party. This question was posed to Democrats, electeds and voters
@bensalinas I was actually reacting to some of the other comments not you, but there’s no point in confronting them they drank the kool-aid. I’m sorry it sounded like it was to you, my bad.
@bensalinas Instead of trying and failing to reform the police, we need to use them less. Denver’s STAR program is an approach that is reducing crime. https://t.co/P4HknjcTDd
