thanks for the periodic reminder that the IRS could make this easy for us if Intuit & c. hadn't lobbied to legally prohibit them from doing so, in order to preserve their tax software revenues.
Maybe we should… Regulate big business… And build a government and economy in the interest of the majority… Maybe such a world would be possible - since it already is in so many countries - but big business pays us to tell you it isn’t, so it isn’t.

Imagine living in a country where taxes are done this way. Seriously, the French revolt over a retirement age utopian for any German (which they should) and every American day by day accepts this boiling frog
