update: I arrived back at the office to discover the fire alarm had gone off, everyone evacuated, security cleared the situation but the alarms… won’t turn off, they’re stuck on. which also means the elevators don’t work, so there’s just a crowd of people who can’t make it up six flights of stairs sitting in the lobby

Called my boss back home (in Bulgaria), he went to the airport, described my laptop, and... they actually gave it to him.
