Friends I am having a bad day because I got to the end of my hour-long commute only to discover I had shoved the wrong laptop in my bag but the good news is that on my second trip back to work I got to see the sheep who mow the solar panels with their solarpunk shepherdess
update: I arrived back at the office to discover the fire alarm had gone off, everyone evacuated, security cleared the situation but the alarms… won’t turn off, they’re stuck on. which also means the elevators don’t work, so there’s just a crowd of people who can’t make it up six flights of stairs sitting in the lobby
@0xabad1dea one some days, giving up and going home is the best thing one can do.
@0xabad1dea Oh to be young again and able to hike up to the 8th floor with enough breath left over to grumble all the way. That time they were shut down for inspection after the elevator tech was arrested.
Yes, clearly much more productive in the office!
@0xabad1dea Beware if suddenly you dream of electric sheep tonight.
@0xabad1dea getting to work without my laptop has been one of my deepest fears for a long time, particularly when I was carpooling. I never did it (but I did have to turn around halfway when a co-worker left their laptop at home once).
@jstanley0 @0xabad1dea Try getting to work only to find out you forgot your laptop at the security checkpoint of the airport you just flew in from, in another country. Called my boss back home (in Bulgaria), he went to the airport, described my laptop, and... they actually gave it to him.

@0xabad1dea arriving to work without a laptop is the tech worker equivalent of going to school without pants.

Except the first one actually happens from time to time.

@0xabad1dea "Solarpunk shepherdess". 😎
@0xabad1dea laughs in works from home
@ChickenPwny I can work from home sometimes, but the current customer requires we only look at their code from inside our office as a contractual matter sooooo here I am 🥲
@0xabad1dea "Solarpunk Shepherdess" about to be my new aesthetic. 🌞🐑
