If you only have good ideas in the shower it means it’s the only place your phone isn’t dominating your attention.

@jesse waterproof phones fixed this problem for me nicely
@jesse This is interesting and I’m not done thinking about it, but there is an argument that the “phone” (as we call it now, which is weird) is our transceiver for excess information. Like augmented intelligence, or something like that.
@jesse Why are you attacking me like this? 😅
@jesse Wonder what influence the white noise a shower provides has on this.
@xsan64 @jesse white noise, relaxing warmth and the menial task of washing
@jesse no doubt there is some truth to this, but people had ideas in the shower long before smartphones!
@jesse Gotta be the acoustics.

@jesse I never develop any ideas in the shower. Good or bad.

My best ideas come from shooting the shit with people I’m comfortable talking to for hours.

@jesse this is absout 35% of the reason why I ride for an hour every day at lunch (in season).

Even when my phone isn’t distracting, something else is.

@jesse likely a contributing factor but shower ideas have been a thing since well before iPhones and computers ;) Guys be a heap of contributing factors imo
@jesse hadn’t thought of it like that. I must ponder this.
@jesse correlation ≠ causation.
@jesse I’d like to agree, but this was true before I had a phone. Or one that could feature in my attention usage stats anyway.
@jesse I actually usually play a podcast on my phone loudspeaker when i’m in the shower. But i have to admit my thoughts tend to get “lost” and i end up not paying too much attention to the podcast.
@jesse Jokes on you, I don't even have to good of ideas there either
@jesse have you gone viral? Got a SoundCloud link my dude?
@EdPete it’s funny because I logged off hard after posting that and came back to a bunch of random reply guys
@jesse This explains why I always have good ideas while swimming
