Releasing this on Sunday 19th! It's the knitting rhythm game you didn't know you needed.

#godot #gamedev

one of these game jams, i'll be done way ahead of the deadline and have lots of time for polish....

The one spark of genius in the madness that I'll credit myself with here was to lean on the LSP for all the type resolution parts.

(Also I'm glad I read Crafting Interpreters a few years ago so that IR and AST are things I know just enough about to get by)

Why!?

* I like Swift syntax better.
* GDScript runs everywhere (inc. web browsers for jams) trivially.
* SwiftGodot is awesome, and is honestly the more serious person's choice for using Swift here but I don't like the extra build complexity, this is just a watcher binary with no impact on Godot itself.

Absolutely unhinged project I sniped myself into yesterday: A #swift#GDScript transpiler

There's a watcher running in the background that generates the file on the right on save.

I am once again begging the computing community to sneak into art classes at their local community college and get involved enough to understand the hard physical and mental labor that goes into even unremarkable art

they did the right thing! Eventually!

I sketched a bunch of craft stalls and picked my favourite, then I loosely put some colour under. I got hooked on the idea of the two big swirls drawing the viewer in. I made the rest of the image by fitting things to those swooshes. It was really fun to follow those colour-shapes as a constraint, rather than just colouring each noun (worm, book, wood, pig). Finally, I am really happy with how i controlled the values so that it reads well without colour.
