Have you ever wished that you could put an icon for the iOS password manager (Settings > Passwords) on your Home Screen? I have a shortcut that’ll take care of that for you. You can also add it to the Dock on macOS. :) https://rmondello.com/passwords-shortcut/
Shortcut for Adding Settings > Passwords to Home Screen or Dock

With the introduction of the Passwords app in iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, this shortcut may be less useful than it used to be. Regardless, if you’d like to add an icon for Apple Passwords to your Home Screen or Dock, this shortcut is for you. It’s compatible with iOS and macOS. It opens the [...]

@rmondello I use this shortcut all the time! Thanks for sharing ☺️
@rmondello Thanks to your previous sharing I moved everything out of LastPass to this. Only thing I really miss is a way to group some of these items together in buckets. "news", "finance", etc. I have many so the list is quite long. I'm also using the shortcut so thank you so much for that.
@rmondello how can we tell what version of the shortcut we have/if it’s the newest?
@rmondello happily been using the iOS shortcut for a while but have been curious, could a shortcut jump to a specific item in passwords?
@rmondello This is awesome, so great that I think it should be included as a default on the iOS Home Screen. I know more than a few people don’t use Apple’s password manager for not knowing it is a password manager, and being unable to find it when they need to access a password.
@bretcarmichael @rmondello I cannot tell you how many times I've shown friends and relatives Keychain Access on the Mac and shown them some of the additional things you can do with it (secure notes for example). I only knew about it because I used the keychain API in several projects I worked on at Apple (iDisk WebDAV client, networking frameworks, etc.). Now, most of my family has Keychain Access on their Dock.
@rmondello this is great! Thanks Ricky!
@rmondello I had a similar shortcut that stopped working after the upgrade to Ventura so thanks for the update!
@rmondello Thank you for the shortcut :D Can’t wait for a standalone app, maybe this WWDC for iOS 17, macOS [insert name here] :3 ? I’m really disappointed by the broken state of the 1Password Safari extension and 1Password 8 at the moment.
@rmondello I use this all the time now, however the fact I can’t use it while entering my corporate email password every time it expires is painful. It would be very useful to have something that is isolated from the System Settings app 🙂
@rmondello, cool thing, but the main disadvantage of Apple Keychain is the lack of option to edit domains where the passwords can be used. I have multiple login credentials in the same domain (different subdomain), and it's constantly putting the wrong pair ;). 1password does everything without any problems.
@rmondello Thanks you! Awesome shortcut tip!
@rmondello oooo this is very helpful!

@rmondello @kbsez I had no idea this password manager existed (I've used 1Password for ages). Thankyou for the tip!

(I have a couple of Missing Manuals for iOS, for obvious reasons).

@rmondello amazing! Should be default ❤️
@rmondello Appreciate this, and thank you. But we need more from Apple on identity and password management. Something that my mom can use. Right now, Apple does not deliver on this.
@Sunil I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on this, if you have them!
@rmondello thank you. A native iOS and Mac app for password management with better Apple-quality UX is all I pray for. Not something hidden in settings, that needs shortcuts to or other magic. Something front and center for normal people. Thank you again for all that you do.🙏🏼
@rmondello I didn't know this was possible, Thank you
@rmondello I hope iOS 17 makes this shortcut useless 😬😬

@rmondello @matthewcassinelli Oh-my! The app/shortcut I never realized I needed so badly.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

@rmondello that’s brilliant! Thank you!
I’ve been wanting to be able to do this for ages.
@rmondello Thank you for this! So useful!
@rmondello I had no idea you could add it to your dock of Home Screen. Thanks for sharing. life changer. Game changer
@rmondello Shortcuts are way more powerful than i thoughts, wow
@rmondello Just make an app already. All your passwords shouldn’t be buried away in Settings. And there’s no way I’m getting family or friends to install a shortcut to make it easier
@rmondello That's cool - added just now
